Best post-band solo career

You forget his No Limits Records album The Games To Be Sold Not To Be Told

The man went epic as a solo artist.

Im not disputing he's great just that he was ever in a group really.

Doggystyle came out first so he was solo artist dogg pound came out a couple of years later and then he released shed loads more solo albums. He was never really part of a group.

Paul Weller
I was going to say Paul Weller.

Although I'm not sure if it's best, in terms of his own work, because I reckon it's comparable in quality, it's not necessarily better or worse.

But I reckon he's had the best post-band solo career, in terms of comparison to others who have struck out and gone solo, his career's certainly been the best in terms of success on that score, imho.

Comparable in Quality?

The Jam - great band.

Everything else Weller done - shite to medicore.

David Bowie? - after he left the King Bees :p

e2a: David Bowie probably had the best solo career after his solo career IYSWIM :)

Best is subjective though. You can't measure it due to opinion.

Exactly. Really I'm asking for your favourites, and thence discussion of them.

Just thought of Curtis Mayfield, who originally was in The Impressions. He possibly challenges Dre and Eno in my book.
