Best Player You've Seen Live

beckham can still play at that level imo

he never had much pace anyway. he can't play like he did back in the day but he's still a good attacking midfielder

Bergkamp or Henry probably.

Kanu is amazing to watch in the flesh though. The way he traps the ball and releases a shot or a pass with absolutely minimal effort is fantastic. He's also the one player I've seen who looks like he's having a right laugh the whole time. I think that when the football history of the nineties and the noughties are written he will be recognised as one of the greatest players of the era.

I've seen Kaka play at the San Siro but he was kaka that match!

I've seen Cantana and Bergkamp play live too

Other than that it's not really that normal for me to watch anyone who's decent play live!

on his hat trick debut for us!

amazing

Thinking about the Welsh here, Ian Rush was much better live than he looked on TV, because of his copious and inventive running off the ball. But the best player I've seen at his peak was Giggs.

you never realise how what an artform goalpoaching is from telly

same with a lot of positions and players though.

Anyone who makes "intelligent runs" or has very good positional play(carrick springs to mind) really.

That's right. Players like Rush look like they just do tap-ins all the time, you don't see the work and brains it takes to get into the right position to do the tap-in.

I saw Giggs at Selhurst Park when he was 17.

He completely bossed the game from the left wing and made every player on the pitch look stupid - including his own team-mates :D

Awesome

Dougie Freedman was the most under-rated (and underachieving really) talent I've ever seen. Never had any pace and prone to being lazy, but his footballing brain was always 10 steps ahead of everyone else on the pitch.

My granddad used to work for Man Utd so I saw the legendary Best, Law, Charlton, Stiles etc team loads of times - for free too! Awesome players.

I saw that side too - can't remember much about it as i was pretty young, but it would have been about the last year they were together. Already in decline, as a team and as individuals (about 1971 perhaps).

Went to the Man Utd v Spurs game last season, got to see C Ronaldo, Rooney, Tom Huddlestone.....

Really tempted to say Leo-Fortune West, but I'll stick with Rooney, Ronaldo is a twat.

Gazza was superb, saw him a few times for England

Trevor Brooking was outstanding but I was too young to really appreciate it.

I saw England play France at Wembley, Gary Lineker came on as a sub and just ran them ragged. He made so much space for himself.

A Scholes-driven Man U turned West Ham inside out in the late 90s.

another fucking great newcastle player who i saw was nobby solano

i only saw him a couple of times but he could just see passes and make passes that were ridiculous

he's another one who didn't look that good on the telly but was a ridiculously talented player

i liked nobby. he was a very decent player, no where near the best i have ever seen though.

People like carrick and sheringam and rio come into it if i was to go down as far as him.

What about Sammy Ego?

he scored the only goal that made me cry but he wasn't that good really... (btw, he was one of three players to score at the Millenium Stadium and Wembley in the same season, who were the other two?)

Awesome

I saw him at Huish Park for Wales U17s (my first ever match). Probably him or Klinsmann (I think the only WC-winner I've seen).

I am not a great football watcher except for The Tigers, last season I was disappointed with Premier League, never saw anyone who I could honestly say "World Class".

The best player I saw was Stephen Ireland. His work rate, runs and shooting easily marked him out.
