Best online poker site?

CF, I play on VCpoker.com, its by far my favourite site (having tried a few others).

I have skim read Harrington's book and it is great but quite heavy imo.

I can reccomend "Doyle Brunson's Super System: A Course in Power Poker!" its the ultimate poker book.

Harrington's book isn't that heavy - for heavy you want Sklanksy :)

Super System is the classic poker book, but technically long since surpassed.

Wow, you are a fountain of knowledge Idaho. Can anyone make a comment on this thread without you piling in? :)

Well we agree on something here :)

I have read many poker books as I was hoping to make a living from it when I return to Brazil next year (But now the yanks have gone I think it will be much harder, I'd need to make about £200 a month average to cover my living costs in Brazil)

The reason I recommend Harrington is because it isn't heavy reading and gives lots of good examples, if you want to get really into the detail then yes Sklanksy books are great, but you really do need to have a very good understand of poker, odds, probability (in all its meanings) and want to spend time studying poker like you would for a degree.

Pokerstars still has Americanos. Ladbrokes has never accepted Americans but is stuffed to the gunwhales with crap European players.

The reason why I said Harrinton's was heavy compared to that of Super Systems is because the latter has pretty cartoons and photos for Chris to look at.

I know someone with an account there I'll check it out.

But from what I have read you can't log on, pay out or accept money from the USA, are you sure they are not service personal working abroad?

I have read a number of letters/e-mail on many poker sites posted by European players complaining that they are not Americans but still can not log on to sites when in the USA.

I'm sure a few people will find away around it but as there were 7 million registered on-line poker players in the USA I'd be very surprised if more that 1% have found away around it, you know that any site that is found to have American players will have their company directors arrested if they set foot in US territory, a big risk for them to take for a very small return.

But I think we have had this debate already :)

There are three books on amazon by harrington: http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss...keywords=Harrington+poker&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&Go=Go

Harrington on Hold 'em: Expert Strategy for No Limit Tournaments: Strategic Play
Harrington on Hold 'em: Expert Strategy for No Limit Tournaments: The Endgame
Harrington on Hold 'Em: The Workbook: Expert Strategy for No-Limit Tournaments (Harrington on Hold'em)

Which one should I get? I'm guessing number 3.
Harrington on Hold 'em: Expert Strategy for No Limit Tournaments: Volume 1 Strategic Play, to start with

Dan Harrington and Bill Robertie
ISBN 1-880685-33-7

If it is no limit Tournaments you want to play, I don’t like the other games as they are drawing games and give people a chance to suck out for little stake, I’m a firm believer in making people pay to hit their cards if you believe you are in front

All poker is a drawing game. No limit holdem does often come down to two-card thuggery, but it's a 7 card game.

snap it also a drawing game

You win the prise for stating the obvious 2006.

I’m sure the poker players here understood what I meant.

Poker is all about drawing. It's about getting the right price to make your draws and giving your opponents the wrong price to draw to theirs.

Sklansky's fundamental theorem of poker:

Every time you play a hand differently from the way you would have played it if you could see all your opponents' cards, they gain; and every time you play your hand the same way you would have played it if you could see all their cards, they lose. Conversely, every time opponents play their hands differently from the way they would have if they could see all your cards, you gain; and every time they play their hands the same way they would have played if they could see all your cards, you lose.

Yes you are correct but read what I said, read the whole sentence not just half of it, I have never come across anyone like you before, you are impossible to have an on-line conversation with as you take things so literally.

In response to someone else I said this “If it is no limit Tournaments you want to play, I don’t like the other games as they are drawing games and give people a chance to suck out for little stake, I’m a firm believer in making people pay to hit their cards if you believe you are in front”, what I mean and I’m sure everyone else in the world would understand what I meant in context, is it is cheaper to suck out and harder to get people off their hands when the bet they have to call is much smaller than if it were No limit.

I’m not going to bother to continue with and chat with you as I really can’t be arsed to have to make sure I state the bloody oblivious in every post.
