swarfega, this "misogynist" thing is just something dubversion has made up to justifty his little attacks on me to himself. he gets a kick out of derailing what were previously good threads. i dislike the gossip because i dont like the sound, not because the singer is fat. if the singer was a bloke i'd still say they were fat and ugly though. has fuck all to do with sexism.

So why did you mention appearance at all, then?

You deserve the crits. You fucking knobber.

www.myspace.com/blahblahblahandfriends - relatively local boys to where I grew up in East London/Essex - las ttime I listened to their Myspace the tracks didn't do justice to thier live show of ukulele, double bass and striped down drum kit playing some kind of indie-skiffle with most amusing lyrics :D Just signed a publishing deal with Chrysalis apparently ...

otherwise my favourite find of the last year or so is www.myspace.com/wearemanman - not the first time I've sung their praises but they deserve a much wider audience for their The Muppets meets Beefheart/Waits schtick :D

Let it lie...we're all back onto the point of the original post....go blast the Autokat album out loud on the stereo.

Sorry. Late for the party again. :o

I can't play the album, MySpace is blocked here. I could unblock it, but it might look a little suspicious...

:D

Autokat rock, saw them at Preston's One Big Fringe last week. Seek out Y'r Impossible, Star 27, The KBC, and Elohymn, all top Preston bands, all doing wonderful things to my ears.

Strange Death of Liberal England are cool, really liking their stuff. Quite into Troubles, ex-Hope of the States peeps, at the mo too.

Still not 100% convinced about Blah Blah Blah...think I prefer the more boisterous MILK KAN.

Man Man sound well interesting and there never seems to be much come out of Philly given its size. But just like buses, along comes THE PO PO - www.myspace.com/thepopomusic

Oh...and lest we forget, Barry from Clor is back: www.myspace.com/lordbarringtone :D

And as for radio-played stuff, you can't beat a dose of THE WOMBATS

There's this new bunch out called The Fall and they're ace, one of them I recognise from somewhere but there's at least four unknown guys.

New album's a bit crap though all the same.

Reformation, Fall Motel, Cheese State!! :D

saw them olast night, ok, not blown away. bit too mannered for me.

like the new single

saw them about a year ago and they had this "wacky" idea of revolving instruments throughout the set. they therefore had one great drumer, one alright one three mediocre ones and a crap one

apparently they've dropped this idea nowadays...or at least I hope they have

I've heard this band called Hadouken recently.
They seem pretty cool.
Not a lot like them around at the moment.
x

http://www.myspace.com/thegaslightanthem
all songs esp I Could have been a contender & We Came To Dance,
they're not doing anything origanal but they do it perfectly

sound like the Killers meets some neo-punk band off The Lockup probably on Epitaph
I know exactly who else they sound like but can't name them

I'da Called You Woody Joe = :D :D punkier All Those Thing I've Done/"he doesn't look a thing like Jesus..." mode Killers making unintentionally goofy Clash/mescaleros lyrical references. what not to love?;)

Robots in Disguise.

I saw them at the Isle of Skye Festival and thought they were one of the most interesting, sexy and fun bands I've heard in ages.

They remind me a little of CSS but miles better.

You can see one of their videos .

Bands? They still have bands? :p
I really don't pay attention to bands these days, though am occasionally encouaraged to check one out by forums like this - I'm usually disappointed though. The last one I listened to was Battles. The last 'new' band I bought on CD was Low and I've only listened to it twice :o

I thought they were supposed to be dull hipster-electro types?

I liked them when I saw them live. They can certainly work a crowd and they were anything but dull.

To be fair, I've not listened to enough of their studio stuff to really pass comment but live I thought they were brilliant.

j.d.smith - never heard of him until yesterday, but he'll be one of the support acts for wanda jackson later this month (along with hot rocket trio) so as i'm going to see her i thought i'd check him out and i found his myspace and think he sounds tippety-top
