LOL. Who cares if the controls on an MP3 player are "iconic" or not?!The silly little buttons on the Zen are in no way as iconic or intuitive as the scroll wheel on ipods.
Who would you trust on technical matters: Crispy or Dub?

where's that bloody poll? I can't find it.
woah!! i had no idea about that!! i really haven't a bloody clue, have i? i thought itunes was like an online library of songs which you had to pay to download individially or by the album.
ok, that makes iPods sound a lot more appealing. sorry, please excuse me, i really am as dense as lead and your average labrador that shares a home with teenagers has probably picked up a greater understanding of computer stuff than me.
jesus, next they'll be sending men to the moon![]()

Also, i have been told by folk that one of the real hassles about iPods is that they are a real hassle to use if you have a PC as they are designed for Macs. or is this complete fanny-batter?
what exactly does uploading (or downloading - or whatever it is you're doing) stuff from iTunes to the MP3 player/Ipod INVOLVE?
and more to the point is it EASY? i really am pretty crap with all this newfangled computer malarkey.
i've never downloaded any music before apart from digitised copies of obscure old cassette releases by acts i like. and apart from vinyl 12"s that aren't available on CD or to download from anywhere anyway, i pretty much have everything i'd want to put on my player on CD so would rather avoid any additional faffing about.![]()
I understand that you've organised your whopping library in a specific way, but the vast majority don't - itunes handles things fine and dandy for them
He chose a slightly more techy route that gives him the picky-picky control he likes.Jefe has a massive library of downloaded songs that he's very anal about keeping in the right folder. and also does ipods 'store' things you load into it according to the album ? ie you go to your menu, click on that LP and it will play it undisturbed for the duration? i don't want something that 'shuffles' songs and play them in some random order so some Whitehouse track will suddenly come whilst im listening to Mahler's 5th, sitting looking out the window on the London-Edinburgh train.
how is drag and drop techhy? this makes no sense.

My mum's My Documents folder is a an enourmous flat folder with "Copy (10) of New Document.doc" all over it. She wouldn't know what a neat and tidy filing scheme was if it slapped her.
All that manual management work is taken out of your hands by itunes, which is what makes it easier to use.
You've never experienced people who can't use Windows have you Jefe? Take it from someone who's had to train people from how to use a mouse upwards, there are plenty of people who would look blankly at you if you said 'double click' or 'drag and drop'...
Indeed, my only gripe with iTunes is the way it stores stuff in the source folder - you can end up with zillions of artist tracks, which can make copying a library for a mate fiddly, altho that's probably me and my problem...
Why go to the problem of locating and dragging the right folder if you don't need to though? Let itunes do the whole autosync shaboodle for you.

So your mum couldn't work out how to rip a CD (which remember, collects all the same information iTunes does) into a My Music folder, where it's stored by album?
ANd then drag that to the My Music folder on an MP3 player?
Make a playlist. Burn a Data DVD of it fro mwithin iTunes.
No, not really. Rip? What's that?

Well I'm not implying that, it requires less skill and knowledge to use iTunes than it does to manually manage a music collection by dragging and dropping.
how is locating a My Music folder a problem?
Sorry, but you lot are finding difficulties where there simply aren't any. Ripping a CD to a folder and copying to an mp3 player is at LEAST as easy as using iTunes
My Zen has crap battery life and it needs bespoke software which isn't even available for Win2K - no simple drag and drop in the flash drive sense.i've never had problems with any of the Creatives I've had - reliable, easy to use, excellent sound quality.
