Best Movie Soundtrack

SHould really be a distinction between best Original score and compilation soundtracks. YOu have to give it Tarantino, he sources some great tracks.

My fav original score is Howard SHore + Ornette COleman for Naked Lunch

...about as close to classical music as i can get. was lucky enough to see this played live with the film playing in the back a couple of years back -

Another fav is Blues Brothers, with my favourite number bit being Twist It - Tail Feather

Murph: Tell me a little about this electric piano, Ray.
Ray: Ah you have a good eye my man. That's the best in the city of Chicago.
Jake: How much?
Ray: Two thousand bucks and it's yours. You can take it home with you. As a matter of fact I'll through the black keys in for free.
Jake: Two thousand for this chunk o'shit? Come on Ray.
Murph: I mean really Ray, it's used, there's no action left in this keyboard.

[Ray comes out from behind the counter and sits at the piano]

Ray: Excuse me, I don't think there's anything wrong with the action on this piano.

Oh Brother Where Art Though and also Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil which is the songs of Johnny Mercer sung by people such as Alison Krauss, kd lang, Tony Bennett, Clint Eastwood and Kevin Spacey

LA Confidential is pretty good too - especially Jerry Goldsmiths wonderful theme music

Ennio Morricone's Westerns, not just great soundtracks but great music which deserves more praise than it gets.

Carter Burwell is a wonderful film composer - especially in conjunction with the Coen Brothers, "Millers Crossing is my favourte score of his

I'm sure this thread was done not all that long ago...:hmm:

Ho hum. Ghost Dog is probably one of my favourites as it goes.

Once Upon a Time in the West stands head & shoulders above others IMO. Ennio Morricone's best work.

Hannibal.
South West 9.
Natural Born Killers.
Kill Bill 2.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Natural Born Killers. Dre Dre, cowboy junkies, leanord cohen and many others, the whole thing produced by legendary trent reznor.

The only albums that come close are the Fear and Loathing in los vegas soundtrack and the Big Lebowski soundtrack

No Country for Old Men - there's not much goin on there - that's what we like ;)

There's generally far too much music in films, just layout off it directors out there. The best soundtracks are the kind of integrated ones by say John Carpenter, he wrote & directed or say Tetsuo where it's all interwoven.
