The few times I've been to Brixham and stayed there I've always been stunned by the freshness of the seafood (well, it's a fishing port Duh!!)

Provided I could get seafood of this freshness and quality when I wanted I could almost certainly give up "meat" or at least have meat only 2 or 3 times a year with no major problem.

So for me, pretty much most things that come out of the sea would be given a go. Even the "Fruits of the Sea" platter that seems to be so popular a la Francé with all those shelly things on it

Had lamb shanks at the weekend was very good .Beef steak or venison.
Though very partial to wild boar or crocadile .Both creatures which would chow down on me given a chance so think its fair like wise shark.

lamb is beautiful meat. slow cooked is best.

I've found asian butchers quite often do it pretty cheap, cubed up. Too expensive in supermarkets.

Ham, pork chops, bacon, salami, prosciutto (or "hoof" as we call it), crackling, ribs...

Seriously, how can it not be pig?

Lamb for me - if you want a good priced flavoursome cut, a half shoulder is usually excellent roasted or curried.

Anything with a face tbh, it's all bloody gorgeous, but I have a particular fondness for game, or anything else nice and rich in flavour.

Seafood needs a poll of its own...

chicken is the most versatile IMO and will take on the flavour of stuff that you cook with it very nicely

but for me best meat is a close call between lamb and Beef... with beef edging it

I only eat meat once or twice a year if that (OH doesn't eat meat), but when I start craving meat lamb is always the main feature.

i love all meat. :hmm: but lamb still wins hands down.

i went without food for six weeks in hospital once and roast leg of lamb was what i dreamed of. wonderful morphine lamb dreams.

I remember being forced to eat lamb's heart and cow's liver as a kid......I'm sure if I wasn't told what they whee I would have eaten them with no problem.

Any meat cooked well is fucking delicious but beef is surly the best, can''t beat a fine piece of fillet steak.

I love offal, lamb's liver cut into strips and dusted with flour then browned and put in a casserole with onions and root veg and served with a pile of mash and all the thick luscious gravy is absolutely mouth-watering goodness... :)

I should really be a veggie, the methods of butchery just seem so fucking vile imo.

But bacon butties are just too tasty

Well the methods of slaughter and processing can be vile, but are pretty tightly regulated now.

The real issue is that meat is at an artificially low price (although not for long) thanks to the big supermarkets who often sell as a loss leader.

I just hope any meat eater with a conscience is willing to make the detour to a butcher who stocks locally sourced, high welfare meats.

But to the question at the mo' I are be mostly loving molasses cured bacon......................

I think the pig provides the most variety of completely different stuff - and I will happily scoff most of it - but if we're talking about what meat I'd ask for if it was to be my last meal on this earth - beef. No question.
