Best mascara?

You know we really should have a forum to discuss this kind of thing ;)

I get lots of allergies and have to be very careful about mascara as some products make my eyes swell up

I also hate smudges so this is an interesting thread for me

I've been using no 7 hypoallergenic one for a while just because it doesn't smudge and doesn't make my eyes itch.

I've bought expensive mascaras before and only used them once before throwing them away, but this thread has inspired me to try the max factor masterpiece, I'll let you know how I get on with it

:)

I use whatever free gift I've managed to pick up :o

I have to be careful with mascara as I have long top lashes ( very little bottom ones though  ) and with the vew volume ones can end up looking like I've got beetles having an orgy on my eyelids :(

 :D I mean, :(

When I were younger I used to wear bright blue mascara and not curl my eyelashes. had this lovely blue tinged vision.

I used that very happily for years and found it very smooth and unclumpy.

'Lash Architect' makes me giggle, it's such an over-serious product name :D

Now what about eyeliner pens?

Boots No 7 and 17 used to do an eyeliner that was like a felt-tip pen. I much preferred it to pencils (too hard or too smudgy nothing 'just riiiiight') and these little paint brush fuckers. But they stopped doing them a few years ago. I managed to buy 4 or 5 of them before they disappeared off the shelves but now they've run out. :(

Why is it when a product that I think is superior exists they fail and the inferior products win out?

Anyway does anyone know if anyone else makes them, or can they recommend an eyeliner that isnt too harsh or too hard or too smudgy?

Benefit Bad Gal eyeliner - blackest of blackest black

Yes I'm a benefit ho :D

TP I dont think it's a good idea to share mascarsa is it? But ta :)

If we're talking liquid eyeliner, I got a pretty decent (and cheap) one by Rimmel recently. It comes in a pot but the applicator is semi-spongey rather than brush. Very black and stays on well :)

do they do a brown or brown/black? I find black too harsh.

I'm using a liquid eyeliner pot just now. But I'm not finding it terribly satisfactory. Maybe the sponge applicator bit would be better. i'll have a looksee. :)

Oops, have just had a look in my make-up bag and it's actually Barry M, not Rimmel. I think they do make a brown one too.

What I find more helpful about this one is that the applicator stick is quite short, which means better control of the line (for me at least). My hands are a bit shaky, which causes a long stick or brush to wobble about all over the place  :D

The other good thing about the Barry M one is that it's cheap, so if it doesn't suit you can just bin it.

I've got that one, I hate doing it cus I ALWAYS fuck it up, but so very rarely wear any I don't really practice, it's alright though

nah it aint.... am still fucked off that it's a useless piece of EXPENSIVE shit though.

I always wonder about the sharing stuff. It's not like make up artists dont use the same kit on everyone...

That, young lady is a very good point :)

Mind you, I got chronic conjunctivitis that went on for a year from borrowing someone's eyeliner :(

Another pretentious name- Bourjois Coup De Theatre, but I like it.

It's one of those where you paint on white first before the black.

Maybe I have too much time on my hands

Revlon Colourstay Overtime Lash Tint. Unsmudgeable, no running and irremovable unless you use a heavy duty eye make up remover. I use a Clinique remover, which isn't cheap, but it beats having panda eyes.

ooh yes, i used to use that stuff. i never removed it though as it would stay on so was really just like having your lashes tinted, but cheaper. i threw mine out after i got a sty i must get some more

They either use a new tube or use disposable brushes.

It's actually ideal if you don't even use the same brush on both of your OWN eyes.

I use two different brands that both do the job about the same. One is Regular sized, Estee Lauder MagnaScopic, for my Right eye & the other is Long, Exaggeration Lengthening Mascara, for my Left eye. :o

I only had pink eye once in my life & it was from borrowing a friend's eyeliner.

Never again!

She didn't have any problems at all because I used a tissue to wipe it off after I used it. I should have done so BEFORE I used it too.

 your eyelashes are different???

Creature of habit myself....Maybelline in the pink and green tube always does the job!

My eyelashes are different on each eye. It can be a bit annoying.

Both sides of my entire face are different, actually. :o

My eyebrows don't match each other, one side of my nose slopes downward while the other side is slightly upturned & don't even get me started about my lips! That's why I had them permanently applied.

Thought about wearing a mirror down the center, but then I would literally be two-faced. :( ;)

At the moment I use Lavera, good but fairly pricey. Animal Aid do a good Beauty without Cruelty range, and the Dr Hadwen trust have a good range which is very reasonable price-wise (they are both probably the same product but with a different name). I have long eyelashes though so I don't need anything special to keep them lush ;) Liquid eyeliner is also Beauty without Cruelty.

I'm a convert to the YSL Volume Effect, it's great and doesn't rub off (on me anyway)

I've been using this for years, whenever anyone's borrowed it they've liked it so much they've stated using it too.
I wear colour #4, it's purple and looks good with green eyes.
