Best keyboard?

Loki

RIP
R.I.P.
Yep I know, keyboards are well... boring.

But I got to thinking the other day how much time I spend using the clunky keyboard that came with this computer, and having to work through the layers of grime/dust accrued over two years, etc.

So I went and got myself a new one, a cheap bottom of the range Microsoft keyboard at £15, but the tactile response is soo much better, and therefore effort reduced and typing abit smoother.

So do you have a preference when it comes to this humble input device?

mine looks identical to that, but it's medion branded powered by logitech (from aldi) £12.99 wireless including a mouse as well, but the mouse eats through batteries like nobodies business.

Looks nice, but I can't say I'm bothered by a 'wired' keyboard.

This however, fills me with about the max excitement possible from a mere keyboard:

It's the new Vista-ready keyboard for power users featuring proximity-sensing backlighting and other goodies. It's insanely priced at $250 though

Or black UK Cherry to its friends; don't accept second best.

MCBF =1 x 10 9 operations
MTBF >80,000 hours
Individual key service life: >50 million operations

It is only what is inside that counts.

i use ergonomic keyboards.

they're ace. the microsoft basic ergonomic one is good enough that i can't think what would make it better. how unambitious is that?

I like the idea of a backlit keyboard. I pretend to myself that I can touch type. Quite often I am typing as the light fades and don't bother to put on the light because in theory I am not looking at the keyboard.

It is not long however before I am peering at it to find a bracket key or something I rarely use.

Good thread idea, I’m thinking about replacing the shit keyboard that came with my PC. Can hardly type on the damn thing and playing games is a right pain. Any suggestions for a decent not too pricey ‘board?

Is a damn nice keyboard. Bit pricey, but can sometimes be a bargain on ebay.

Is supposed to be the top set but I like the diNovo better.

My Microsoft Wired 500 keyboard, just 15 squid from PC World, seems to fit both your reqs - see #1. The reason I went for MS is I thought they wouldn't put their name to a flakey keyboard - although now I can see the flaw in that logic ;)

I have a logitech wired keyboard which is quality design and build, and even lasts against my bad eating habits and greasy fingers.... until I wash the keyboard.

I have a bog-standard £20 Apple one - it's a couple of years old now and the left shift is a bit dodgy, but I find it quite difficult to type on anything else now! (I touch-type so it's quite hard to get used to another keyboard)

This confused me til I read the small print under 'CORSAIR'.

Now I have the 'cheap windows keyboard: full-of-tea-that's-been-through-nose edition'.

:D :D

Very nice both of em, but you can't get em without the mouse as far as I remember. I already have the MX1000 so only need the keyboard...
