Best guitarists in punk

Just to add to the list:

Stuart Adamson of The Skids (RIP)
Jo Callis of The Rezillos
Paul Fox of The Ruts (RIP)

I'm not sure if the Stranglers count as punk (avant-garde pub rock would be nearer the mark) but if they do then JJ Burnel has best bass guitar in punk sewn up and without contest.

steve jones came up with some of the best riffs ever.

bones of discharge

keith levene in pil

whatshisname orig guitarist in killing joke

alex fergusson of atv/ptv etc

Alright, I'll take your word for it. Never really liked The Exploited at all, despite seeing them a couple of times.

I always think of 'Dead Cities'. :D

Nobody's mentioned Marco Pironi yet.

Umm yeah when i said mick jones wasn't a good guitarist i got steve jones and him the wrong way round.

My bad.

Still never heard anything thats made me go wow in terms of guitar form the clash but he is competent to say the least.

Yep, 'Feedback Song' leading into 'Rema Rema' is still one of my faves.

I remember hearing the demo of it in the Beggar's Banquet shop a few months before the 12" came out and loving it.

I was going to, but I kept stumbling over the fact that very little of his (admittedly excellent) guitar work (to my knowledge) is very punky.

Jake Burns

ive been thinking about this all day,

i think phil who is currently in citizen fish is dam good. not only has he been in ska-punkers Cf, but played in subhumans, a true punk band!

i think he's a great guitarist. punk or not. the part to walking on the moon is so simple and yet so brilliant and atmospheric. great song all round.
