Best girl band ever?

i think Girl Groups should be the singy dancy ones like Girls Aloud, Sugarbabes etc.

then Girl Bands could be the ones who play instruments (as well as sing and dance if that's what they do too).

that's what i think anyway.

good call kyser - how could i forget En Vogue? i haven't really seen them as a 'girl band' as such....dunno why though.

i love En Vogue - top class sassy strutty singy ladies.

in fact i'll have a bit of En Vogue on now.

and i liked TLC too.

TBH I think the term 'band' is wholly inaccurate when applied to pop groups anyway. There are rock bands and pop groups.

'girl band' brings to mind L7 et al to me, I'm afraid.
I like your way of thinking :D

So these are girl groups we're talking about who sing and dance but don't do instruments...

These two would be at the top for me:

TLC
En Vogue

Eternal had a few good songs - in another dimension, 'Power Of A Woman' was a four-to-the-floor, barnstorming eighteen-wheeler of a funk soul disco monolith.

Yeah Eternal were pretty fucking cool.

I hated that one they did with that man that went 'yeah yeah yeah yeah' with the shoulder dancing though. Shoulder dancing ffs. It made me sick.

Ahhh yes...that would have been 'I Wanna Be The Only One', with BeBeWinans I reckon? Very 1997... :D

shoulder dancing is ace.

try it with Q-Tip's Breathe and Stop leccy.

edit: ah, that's head dancing. when they were younger, me and me boys used to do the headdancing to this song in the car. :)

NO! I hate it because I hate that song but yet when it comes on, my shoulders dance, like, without me wanting them to. Like a reflex. And I make myself sick.

I can't watch that bid at work Foo but I'll take your word for it, cos it's you.

i reckon sugerbabes followed closely by tlc.

That the only one song was by far the worst of eternals singles that i remember.

Breathe and stop is a tuuuune!(for real, now give me what you got). q-tip is ace.

Girls Aloud obviously own this thread, but a good shout on En Vogue and TLC too.

How about Kenickie? OK they were 25% male, but no one paid any attention to Johnny X.

Eternal Flame is very possibly the best song ever to get to number one for nine million years, although Stay by Shakespear's Sister was also very good.

I had forgotten about them - I loved Stay - in fact I have it somewhere and now going to listen to it :)

Oh, Sister Sledge :D
