How are you at poker?
I've only played it once in my life but I came fourth out of a field of 80 and won a couple of hundred quid from a buy in of a fiver. Not playing it again though cos I want to keep my 100% success rate. :)

Cannon fodder 2 =Amiga
Super Frog = Amiga
Metal Gear Solid = Playstation (the 2nd one bored me shitless)
Quake 2 = P.C
Prince of Persia Sands of Time =Xbox
Super Mario World =Snes

As much as I enjoyed playing it, I was very disappointed with FM 2006. I was able to take a no hoper club and turn it into a team of invincible superstars within a few seasons.

oh and yeah when it comes to FPS Doom was the daddy... wolfenstine was good but it was nothing compared to doom

i can still remeber most of the cheat codes off by heart

Sensible Soccer - this dominated my childhood. I fired it up a few months ago and it still had the full 1993 Cardiff City Squad and all my team mates in my under 12's football team.

Syndicate - Fantastic dystopian city setting, upgradable cyborgs with trenchcoats, miniguns, assassination missions, hovercars. What more could you ask for?

Red Alert - I could play it for such long streches that it would make my eyes bleed. I remember playing into the early hours once, I went to bed and all I could see were swarms of little men & tanks.

Goldeneye & Mariokart
- I had 4 housemates and 4 pads. Almost cost us all our degrees.

Yeah syndicate wars was teh shit! You could blow up virtually everything.

I used to love gunning down crowds of innocent people with the mini-gun.

Developers could go to town on a modern day version of this game! *drools*

In terms of sheer variety and out and out gaming, Zelda Windwaker and Ocrina are masterpieces.

Earth Worm Jim 1 & 2 are still the greatest 2d platformers ever created.

Another game which had a special moment, guaranteed to make you jump out of your skin the first time it happened - beautifully illustrated by the screen above.

lol

*Thinks about possibilities for new Syndicate game*

Just gone and dug out my copies of Syndicate Plus and Syndicate Wars :D

my dad was on about cosmic causeway the other day

anyone remember that? you were a ball rolling along a checked road and you had to dodge stuff then battle a dragon at the end of the level

I think the main reason I liked trance when I was older was that it reminded me of the turrican music...

One of my ringtones is one of the levels from gunhed:o

rocket ranger on the amiga. ace.
the take off section was frustrating though. haven't knackered as many joysticks since daley thompsons decathlon.

in fact any game by cinemaware (rocket ranger, it came from the desert, lords of the rising sun etc). way ahead of everyone at the time.

and possibly populous (but not the shite playstation version).

Oh god I hate threads like this!

Erm, hmmm lemme think probably one of the following:

Tetris
Elite
Mario Kart (SNES)
Civ 2
CounterStrike: Source
Sim City

You wont top these beauts....

On the Amiga:
SPEEDBALL2

On the NES:
SNAKE RATTLE N ROLL

On the SNES:
ZELDA

On the PS2:
RE4

Fuckin A

you people have missed out:

Monkey Island
Red Faction ( I love desructable stuff)
Yo Joe (Amiga)
Steel Devils "
Gran Turismo

Erm i'm sure there is more but I can't think of them.

Don't know if I could name 'the best', but a few classics are:

Counter Strike
Quake 3
Command and Conquer Red Alert 2
Manic miner
IK+
Street fighter 2
Mario Kart

Historically, my favourite games have been Mario Kart (SNES/Double Dash), Chuckie Egg 2 and the original Tomb Raider.

Ultimately, the Silent Hill series takes it though (especially SH4 - The Room).

No other game has created the atmosphere and horror that the SH series has. Plenty of games i've found chilled or exciting, but nothing like SH - its the first game to make the game/film "cinematic" crossover a reality imo

Was 4 really that good? Played and loved the others but never got round to picking up a copy of 4.
