1 or 2

i never got into BOF1 but i did really like BOF2

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v101/Shippou-Chan/1159015053101.png - pic of Katt powered up in shaman form i found on 4chan today

also i spose i don't play that many modern RPG due to not having a consol ... but .... well a really good example is final fantasy x ... it just didn't do anything for me it just felt like it had no guts to it .... it just didn't have the same steam punk meets clasisc fantasy style of the grand age of snes rpgs

breath of fire 2, am still on the bit where you have got the bird and you have to go and fight the last 2 bosses

the last final fantasy game i played was 9, they just remind me of movies how perfectly paced they are, like they still have the same depth, but you are dragged along with the story, then you find all the extra stuff after you have finished it. the snes ones don't have the same character depth, and the combat has been improved a lot since them days imo

humm i would question the charactor depth comment but possibly right about the combat statment but i must say the combat wasn't THAT diffrent jusyt a little better handeled

for me it's just the fact that they can only express emotion by spinning around :D:D

and breath of fire 2 loses a lot of respect just cos of that frog dude

BBC Micro - Repton
Sega Master System - Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion
SNES - International Superstar Soccer (oh, how far we've come..)
Playstation - Wipeout 2047
Dreamcast - Virtua Tennis

And I'm out of the loop...

Good call. Elite as well for the BBC.

I find it hard after that to name one outstanding game.

Probably Eve Online, especially if we're talking amount of time absorbed :D

I don't play games much cos I get bored or frustrated too easily, but Resident Evil 4 wins hands down, way above anything I've ever played.

turrican 2: amazing music an d graphics, perfect difficulty level so it's always challenging but you always get a bit further, fantastic sense of both being able to just walk around blasting things, but also explore lots of hidden areas etc. Like Mario Brothers mixed with Apocalypse Now and Robocop.

The bollocks.

Hmm...
Oblivion
Final Fantasy 7
Half Life

I've always had a soft spot for Little Big Adventure 2 as well. Too cute.

i think some of the finest RPGs out there ... graphics are better nowadays but the sotory just isn't there

Even though i love/loved all the old school FF games, and loads of other snes rpg's, xenogears still has the best story of any rpg i've ever played.

Shame it was never released in the uk, people just look at me blankly when i mention it  :(

turrican was ace

i loved the weapons system on it as well

Shit - how could I forget:

Mecenary on my atari 800xl:

Ace wire-frame graphics, on a huge planet chocked full of ships and buildings and puzzles. A great blend of flying/shooting/walking/exploring and puzzle-solving.

Also - two of Lucasarts forgotten finests - their very first games I believe:

Rescue on Fractalus:

Another game which had a special moment, guaranteed to make you jump out of your skin the first time it happened - beautifully illustrated by the screen above.

:)

Ballblazer

One-one-one high-speed, split screen future sport action.

I loved my Atari 800xl - a really underrated machine. Pissed all over the spectrum and could match the C64 pixel for pixel with graphics quality and had a better music chip than most of its peers. Played carts and tapes and had a fine array of classic games - including all of the Infocom text-adventures.

Oh, which reminds me:

All of the Infocom text adventures

I would play these with my dad sometimes - I would drive and he would make the maps and help solve the puzzles.

Single player - Super Mario World on Snes
Multiplayer - Mario Kart 64 on N64
PC - GTA Vice City with MTA add on for deathmatch

Planescape:Torment and Deus Ex. Both games completely draw you into another world, it's like reading a good book.

the Origonal Day Of Defeat (Half life mod) so much better than the "newer and better" Day Of Defeat Source (Half Life 2 mod)

Never understood why Mario Cart is so popular - it's well boring - once you've seen all the courses, what's the point in carrying on?

Its a multi-player classic - pure simple and extremely competitive gameplay at its best.....

But yeah, I would agree that playing on your own loses its appeal once you have unlocked everything.
