Do they not sell Grand Marnier in those little bottles.. ?

Yes they do, maybe not that easy to find though - or she could go to a pub & buy a single measure & then take it home in jam jar* :) (though even that might skew her budget a bit at pub prices).

*This tip comes from "Grub on a Grant" c1982 :D

I hope she's been answered by a kindly soul with a dusty half bottle of Grand Marnier at the back of their drinks cabinet.

Madeira is only 2€ in my local supermarket, it she wants to come over to collect it I'll buy her the whole bottle, and what's left over can be served as the desert wine at the dinner.

The airfares might not make this a sensible option.

I shall pop out to my local Costcutter later and see if they've got any in

But she needed a bottle of each at £6.50-£7 each... as stated in the OP!!

That makes around £15...

Hope it's clear for all now :D
It's clear to the rest of us, but not to you, it seems!

I'm intrigued as to how she's going to bring the entire meal in under £6.50 though. A couple of tubs of marscapone are going to cost about £2 alone.

Maybe it's cheese on toast followed by tiramisu?

£6.50 per head, perhaps? Just give them very small portions. Innit. :)

...buy the bottle, use what I needed and drink the rest. :o

Yeah but you'd probably drink the rest when you'd been out on the lash, got home and realised that you wanted another drink but that there is no booze in the house. Then you think - hang on a minute! there's that bottle of Tia Maria/Madeira in the cupboard - result!! - so you drink the lot and feel like fucking shite the next day. Bleugh

(or maybe that's just me)

If it were 6.50 a head, then the cost of the madiera wouldn't be such a big deal spread over the family.

Unless she's got a very small family?

Heck, maybe she's just making tiramisu for herself to pig out on, but is too embarassed to say so. :D
