Best festival of 2007

but best of all was Bloom down Bath way in August. Four days, only about 3000 people in beautiful surrounds and a nice smallish area so not too tiring and easy access to your tent/car etc. So good, I've already got an early-bird ticket for next year.

I thought Bloom would be right up the Urbanites' alley but nobody seemed to know or care much about it when I posted last summer!

I've heard excellent things before about this -- really looks great. I didn't see your thread (I don't think) but it's a real shame that Bloom (not to be confused with In Bloom!! ie the festival  ) directly clashed with ENDORSE IT, much favoured by Urbanites last year and this.

Festival clashes beween two or more good ones are made of fail but can't be helped I guess.

Hopefully my planned January revival of the 'Festival Season [2008] thread -- some dates and details' will help with peoples' planning (plug plug :p )

Did about 8 festivals this year including over 2 months painting bins at glastonbury so for the alround experience, freedom and ease of lunacy it wins hands down. I cried with joy (and a little exaustion,) at least twice there.

The big surprise was Secret Garden festival which I would recommend in a heart beat to anyone who's into adult playgrounds, beautiful settings, and more than a few friendly nut jobs. Theres even a boating lake and a maze on stilts.

The dissapointment was definately Glade. Not for the mud, that cant stop me merrymaking but for the ball busting security, undercover coppers, (first hand experience there,) and the fact that someone let my fully paid up consevative of a grandmother in to set the volume levels.

I was genuinely embarissed for some of the acts there who through no fault of their own lacked any impact. :o

I shall be boycotting it next year until they get my Gran, and those security under control.

Interesting reading....
Thanks for all the positive feedback regarding ENdorse it. We've got big plans for next year and its all good. One thing I will say is to please spend your money wisely next year, be it on Endorse it or wherever else. There's various rumours flying around the festival industry, but the main one is that the bubble has burst and that there will be a lot more events going to the wall next year. As festival organisers/promoters/agents we do talk to each other/swap acts/offer support etc and the word is to watch this space. Gone are the days of a few people pulling together to make things happen - everything now needs to be run tightly and efficiently behind the scenes.

So to sum it up Endorse it is fine, dandy and well chuffed with U75 support & feedback and please be careful where you spend your hard-earned for next year.

Not surprising really.
I would love to go to ALL of the less corporate festivals but have just overdosed on them. Probably will do no more than two next year but there is SO many to choose from!

There also seems to be no shortage of amazing gigs, more than I can remember seeing. Just do not have time or money to see everything I want.
