Best festival lineup you ever went to?

probabley the 1st reading i went to. The one when pheonix festival got cancelled and half the bands played reading instead.


One of the days went foo fighters, beastie boys, prodigy. Got to see backyard babies, piutchshifter, rancid, asian dub foundationand bad religion as well. nice.

it will surprise no-one to know that, despite being there, i missed most of the good bands. bad religion were the fucking nuts though. but why oh why did i watch garbage over spiritualized? i didn't even like garbage back then...

The last one I went to was 2001. Believe me, it was grim out there.

2000 was a good year I think, let me research.

Turns out that my memory was wrong. 2000 was the year I got thrown out and only saw a few bands, but I still went back the next year.

Reading 95 was the first one I went to - aged 14. Foo Fighters headlining the melody maker tent was absolute mayhem - if you could get into there. It was packed out for 100m surrounding outside. I reluctantly chose to see Bjork on the main stage who was also amazing.

But also playing, Beck, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Green Day, Hole, Carter USM, Blind Melon, and Neil Young. Fantastic! China Drum opening the main stage on Friday was awesome and Skunk Anansie were at their peak too.

I reluctantly chose to see Bjork on the main stage who was also amazing.

I was speeding off me tits when she was on. It didn't really work.

Oh gods, it all rolls into one... and I always miss the classic ones and end up at the pedestrian ones...

Possibly Glasto 03, with the Flaming Lips and Radiohead... That was an orgasmic evening.

Funnily enough that was the only one that immediately sprang to mind for me!

I went on the Sunday too, caught New Order and Garbage coz the girl I went with was a fan. Had fun ogling Shirleys ace legs. But dumped the girl that evening.

I've been to loads of festivals with better bills, but seeing Thin Lizzy knock out this setlist after getting jiggy with barrels of Watneys Party Seven sure ranks as one of my best ever festival moments:

This for me too. I also saw REM, Jimmy Cliff, the Skatalites and the Manics; as well as Interpol and the Cooper Temple Clause back before they became shit. That Flaming Lips/Radiohead double header was something else though

But then you'd have missed Nitzer Ebb, which is the only act on that whole list (apart from a vague memory of The Fall) that I can remember seeing there. They were great

I remember being there when Nirvana played, but that's only coz it was the first time I took speed and that's what I remember rather than the music

PWEI, Sonic Youth and Iggy Pop in a row? I know I was there and must have watched them, but I've got no memory of seeing them there at all

Yeah Bad Religion were feckin' great! (sprained my ankle in that mosh I think!) Other highlights fo rme were Deftones, Foo Fighters and Soul Coughing ... didn't catch Elliot Smith that year but saw him there in '99 (guess you missed him twice then mate? ) ... and '99 was the first time I saw the live magnificance of The Flaming Lips - in fact '99 was a damn good year for my indie-rock leanings - Pavement, Sebadoh, Sleater Kinney, Quasi off the top of my head!

Wicked news, mate! Meems texted me to let me know - Roni Size/Reprazent followed by Goldfrapp followed by The Flaming Lips all on the main stage!!! When was the last time we spent that much time at a main stage that late in the day??? Probably Glasto '03 thinking about it
