Best desktop for £300?

Although everything else should play sweet, to be honest I think half life 2 looks as good crysis on my machine as I can everything on max, run full anti aliasing (8 or 16 I think) and run 1680x1020 and never drop below 150 fps. To play the later levels of crysis smoothly (28 to 40 fps for me) on the later levels requires dropping down to 1024x768 with x2 aa.

Its only one game, still loads more stuff you can enjoy top notch on your new system.

Yeah, completely. Just a tiny, weeny bit of a pain that AMDs best gfx card can't handle Crysis on anything like top settings. Does any hardware play it on full at a decent res with full AA?!

Yeah, Half-Life 2 does look great, played a bit of Episode 1 last night.. that runs on full everything with full AA at 1440 x 900 no problem.

I think the 8800 Ultra may do it. That said I saw a benchmark using 3 8800 GTS and they only just managed to run it 1900 x 1600.

Christ... whilst it's a beautiful game, you half wonder why they bothered... it's no good for the end user.
