Best Comedy stand up sketches evah.

They're not all middle aged or dead.

Could have a "best comedy stand up sketches* evah (no white men whether alive or dead)" thread.

* - I thought stand-up and sketches were different things, but I was born in the 1970s

Lol, this is getting complicated. Just commenting on the slight lack of diversity, as more of an oversight than deliberate!

What's "non-white"? Is white the default setting for humankind? (Asking in a non-"bitching" fashion...)
Not meaning to derail the thread but what term should I use then?

I could have used the term BAME but that's new and ,as far as I'm aware, not everyone identifies as or approves of that term. I think it might also exclude some non-white groups.

Also, doesn't BAME essentially mean the same thing as non-white?

You don't even like the Dave Allen bit in the first post? :(

No, it's very artificial. An actual conversation with a child wouldn't go like that, I mean who calls the second hand the third hand? It sounds like he's trying to wind up one of Urban's finest uber-pedants, and then he just gets angry and shouts.

You're saying there could be inaccuries in this story?

We'd need to clarify whether Gypsies or Irish Travellers count as minority ethnic...
They do. Some Travellers identify as Pavee.

Don't wish to derail the stand up, either. From personal experience, find that "non white" is not a good way to refer to people or persons of colour, BAME, mixed race, bi-racial, black, brown, Asian, East Asian, indigenous etc.

It comes across as white being a default setting. Again, know that it's not deliberate. It's just wrong, in the sense that it divides people into variants of whiteness. "White" and "non white". Iyswim...

Anyway, back to the gigs

Ah man. Steve Hughes is a real let down. I see he's appeared on the Lotus Eaters and some other dodgy right wing channel on YouTube. A real shame as some of his old routines are really good :(

I guess I'm just not used to BAME and bi racial, especially BAME. I have used the term mixed race though.
