Best Cocteau Twins Song?

Heaven Or Las Vegas has it's wonderful moments, but I'd lost track of what they were putting out after Blue Bell Knoll. I think, at the time, I feared it had to be downhill after such a peak.

Exactly what I thought, too. I did see them once more after this, though - around the time of Heaven And Las Vegas, I think. Brixton Academy with surprise supports from The Jesus And Mary Chain and Ian McCullough, amongst others. They were absolutely incredible.

Blimey: Cocteaus, JAMC, and Ian McCulloch on the same bill. Even in 1990, this was probably still a back-combed hairspray-related fire risk of potentially epic proportions...:D

This. Very much this.

Well, no. Scratch that - Blue Bell Knoll in its entirety.

I remember spending the entire 1992/3 football season watching Match of the Day, every Saturday, with the volume off and listening to BBK at full whack.

Man, it made the football ethereal.

And it seemed to enhance the skills of Cantona no end...

Id probably go for Aikea Guinea, managed to find a decent 12" of it at a boot sale a couple of years back. Then again there is Pearly Dewdrops Drops..

...song to the siren

i fucking love that song.

Did you see the link to the live version a few posts up (#38).

Pleasantly surprised to find I have Aikea Guineau, Tiny Dynamine, and Echoes in Shallow Bay on CD. All I need to do know is find my CD of Blue Bell Knoll...

Blue Bell Knoll, most of the Echoes in a Shallow Bay EP, Pitch the Baby, Fotzepolic, Whales Tales, Kookaburra, Ivo. Too many greats to choose from really. In fact i've currently got the Blue Bell Knoll and Victorialand CD's playing in my car.

I saw their second last ever gig in a big top at the Phoenix Festival. Glad I finally got to see them live and just bepofre they split.

This was an amazing gig. Cocteaus on blistering form, opening with Blue Bell Knoll, spine-tingling.
It did have Jim and William Reid with Ian McCulloch doing an acoustic support. Before that, it also had Edwyn Collins and Roddy Frame. How amazing is that?

Bluebell Knoll for me. Does weird things to me and transports me to a specific time when it felt like possibilities and wonder were permanent and infinite. Not least because I was off my tits a lot of the time then :D
Yeah I have a very nostalgic/dopey thing with them too. That Tiny Dynamine EP takes me right back there.

For me, the Cocteaus work best in album format, where all the soundscapes complement one another, so it's difficult to pick out a favourite track.
I agree with Stavros' post from 12 or 13 years ago, one of those bands I listen to a reasonable amount but I'd struggle to tell you that many specific song names.
