best "britsh" bands ever?

as an aside to this british thing, i was once working in denmark for a bit and was in the pub with my co-worker and we were talking about music

i was taking the piss out of danish music saying the biggest band (this was pre-Aqua of course) was D.A.D. to which he threw a schnapps glass on the floor and shouted

I have a guilty liking for AQUA, based largely on the fact I was once rooting through a load of really obscure hardcore punk albums and there was bizarrely a solitary aqua album in there and so, instead of just thinking, 'that's misfiled' I invented a whole justification for them being subversive art rock post ironic post punk masters of cool which despite being a complete falsification has stuck with me ever since.

Lene Nystrom, the girl out of Aqua, has gone on to do a cracking solo album, more along the Girls Aloud-style, although it was never released in the UK I don't think. I think she records under the name Lene and if you want the track to download, if you can find it, is "It's Your Duty".
