Best break-up song/album

I think my favourite break up song of all time is Must I Paint You A Picture by Billy Bragg.

I've been a Bragg fan since Brewing Up, but I have to say, a line like 'the chain that fell off my bike is now wrapped around my hear' is pushing it a bit.

And I don't think the songs on Brewing Up (especially The Myth of Hope) are good preparation for kids who haven't had a gf/bf yet.

I should probably have been into Iron Maiden. . .

Personal faves:

Blur - No Disatance Left to Run (written after Damon split with Justine)

and Harper Lee's "This is the sound that a heart makes when its breaking". (really :( )

Last Goodbye- Jeff Buckley

Sad yet uplifting.

"Kiss me out of desire babe, not consolation."

I'm feeling the wrath of BUckley haters already...but so be it.

When I was a teenager, late Roxy worked for me.

Sad songs really did say much more when I was really down. All bollocks now of course.

How I Left You by Knifehandchop is great album for a break up
Let Love In by Nick Cave
New Dawn Fades by Joy Division, because it's my favourite song and it says: "Directionless so plain to see/ a loaded gun won't set you free"
which is the kind of reminder you need to keep you alive when you're really really fucking down

I'm quite partial to 'Where in the hell did you go with my toothbrush' by Reverend Horton Heat.

i want to listen to that tune, it sounds hilarious..

anyway.. i'll probably get slated for this but....

Gabrielle - Rise (the album)

oh and also..

Mary J Blige - My Life (the album)

neither very cool i know, but they did the job for me! :o

Marvin Gaye "Here My Dear" Created to fulfill his divorce settlement with his ex-wife, she got all the profits (which weren't much):
I guess I'd have to say this album is
dedicated to you.
Although perhaps you may not be happy,
this is what you want,
so I conceded.
I hope it makes you happy.
There's a lot of truth in it, babe.

I don't think I'll have many regrets, baby.
Things didn't have to be the way they was, baby.
You don't have the right to use the son of mine
to keep me in line.
One thing I can't do without
is the boy whom God gave to both of us.
I'm so happy, oh, for the son of mine.

So here it is, babe.
I hope you enjoy, reminisce, be happy,
think about the kisses and the joy.
But there were those other moments too,
the times that were cloudy and grey.
Bad.
But you taught me that was life.
May love ever possess you,
may peace come into your life.
Always think of me the way I was.
Ha, I was your baby.

This is what you wanted.
Here, dear, here it is.
Here, my dear, here it is.
Obviously. You gotta hear him sing it to get the full effect.
