Best Beatles track?

He's probably my favourite Fifth Beatle.

I do think that Paul was also responsible for a lot of the classical influence too.
Yep, a good choice for 5th Beatle, though he might struggle with the mop top.

I don't think Paul knew one end of a French Horn from another before George Martin, but lets not get personal.

Better, but you really should enter the spirit and choose one. The discipline will be good for you.;)

Don't like em. I recognise they're *important* to the development of pop in the UK, but I find their stuff so ponderous, with so little swing/funk to it, IYSWIM.

I revisited Revolver last spring, remembering it as one of my fvaourite albums from a period where I was into them at about age 14. Sadly it confirmed my view of them.

Another vote for And Your Bird can Sing.

I'm not someone who subscribes to the view they were Shite, nor to the view that they were The Best Thing Ever. I think their stuff is dated, some of it badly, but that it was of its time. I think their albums Rubber Soul and Revolver are good examples of 60s guitar pop, despite containing one or two stinkers (eg the dreadful Eleanor Rigby, the corny Michelle. Although the latter has a good bass run for a solo).

Pretty much the whole of side 2 of Abbey Road is about as good as they ever get (forget side one except for Come Together). And disproving the Lennon was the real talent opinion, as most of it was written by Mcartney.

Err...

Norwegian wood
Getting better
Carry that weight
Here, there and everywhere
Back in the USSR
Here comes the sun
She's leaving home

And loads of others

With a gun to my head I might have to go for Norwegian wood (this bird has flown). It's got a wonderfully untidy guitar line and it served as my introduction to real-world sexual politics when I was but a nipper.

my most recent favourite was happiness is a warm gun.
'I need a fix cos i'm goin down' ;)

past faves include fool on the hill,
i'm looking through you,
til there was you,
michelle,
golden slumbers

I reckon people who don't like the beatles just don't
understand music very well.

Twist and Shout

they had a raw energy in their early days that I really like

I quite like Come Together too, the bassline is

just one?....

cant do it....but I like the earlier singles best

she loves you, help, ticket to ride, and another vote for hide your love away...

I'm not a massive fan - I think they were pretty good, but I think that saying that they were way superior to any other band ever is just ignorant, and the "they were crap" line is just iconoclasm. IMVHO.

Anyway my favourite one would be any off Abbey Road, which is the only Beatles album I would listen to out of choice.

This thread is a testament to their talent. Dozens of songs have been named as 'favourites'.

Yes, good band, as I said.

My only issue is with the 'there's no possible better band' type view.

I could start a thread about the Pixies and would get just as many responses.
