Best Beatles track?

I like disc two of Blue very much, and actually Now and Then sits just fine at the end of it. I was worried it would sound out of place, but it doesn’t. It’s fine.

I wouldn’t have any hesitation recommending these albums to anyone (Martians or certain Gen Zs maybe?) who wanted to know how to get into the Beatles.

its an awful thing to admit but i am envious of you owning the vinyl danny'. At the same time i am glad it is giving you such joy. :)

I just looked at my post from 2008 and my fave tracks are still the same now. Consistent if nothing else. I love the Beatles 😍

danny it is me with the problem pal, not you - i feel that i do it often these days! leaping to false conclusions that is.. Must be old age. i'm still envious though. Maybe santa will be kind this year, providing i drop enough hints🤣. The big advantage of cd is the ability to shift about and replay etc. Obviously i much prefer the sound of vinyl though. i have been listening to a George track a great deal these past few days - 'Run of the Mill' (demo). i hadnt heard it until recently (Cillian Murphy played it on his show). Its way way superior to the over produced 'All things must pass' version IMHO. i hope you are continuing to enjoy your cd. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7NoOc5frbA🎧

The best thing I ever bought myself was “The Beatles in Mono” vinyl box set. Just fantastic. My neighbour converted them to CDs so, if he still has the means, I can see if he can do copies if you’re interested? 🙂

I like it all although my favourite is another band.
I am glad to see 'Ticket to Ride' mentioned a few times.
I know it is mimed, but I find this video has got something special.

That is a really kind offer sfm, but i do have most, if not all earlier Beatles almubs in mono! i wouldnt be surprised if they were quite valuable these days. my daughter has an eye on them (when i've gone of course)😐. i also have a Beatles Fan Club floppy disc which features Tiny Tim - i believe it was 1967/possibly 68! Time bleedin flies dont it.

Bought the Blue Album in 1978. Haven't heard it in years as I got rid of my turntable in '07. I'll check out the new version on Spotify to see how it compares.

Had a listen to the new mix of I Am The Walrus last night and liked it. Only on my phone so need to hear it on proper speakers but it sounded even more psychedelic, with an extended outro and a bit where the orchestration dropped away unexpectedly.

I'll enjoy hearing the rest of this, if other mixes are similar, I think.

Yes I like these new mixes. Don't know if I prefer them but there's some nice additions. Like Danny says, 'Hey Bulldog' is a beaut. It really powers along in a way I don't remember the original doing.

There's a fair bit more going on in the background on 'Fool On The Hill'. Lovely orchestral bits that were buried in previous mixes. 'Tomorrow Never Knows' isn't hugely different, I think, but it still sounds like nobody else. There's maybe a slightly more prominent bass hiccup at the end; Paul doing his Indian raga thing.

Sometimes there are bits where I'm not so sure it was worthwhile - the intro harmonies on 'Nowhere Man' are more gorgeous than ever but when the band kick in it's a bit jarring. That never used to happen. Occasionally it reminds me of listening to a quadrophonic thing or a 5.1 mix or whatever they're called. A bit gimmicky and not really adding much.

But I've only listened to my favourites so far.

More later, as an old Beatles-loving friend of mine was wont to say...

The video has just dropped. Peter Jackson directed. It's quite lovely and fun and makes the song a lot more enjoyable even.

I'm a massive Beatles fan yet wasn't aware of the alternative footage of "Hello, Goodbye", so I took the liberty of you-tubing the original which is here:

Just goes to show how quirky (in a good way) Ringo's drumming was on this. It's much higher up in the mix here.

Oh and my favourite Beatles song? "Sexy Sadie" not just because of the back story, but the whole tone, keyboards and, again, the drumming.

If you want to read a good book about what else was going on around The Beatles at that time, I highly recommend "Revolution In The Head" by the late Ian MacDonald. It encouraged me to buy a few more records to broaden my horizons a bit after reading it.
