Red Jezza is wise. Tottenham is alright but not the nicest area in the world
thank'ee!
I'd say green lanes, wood green (ulp!) finsbury park are OK, as is stamford hill. but N17? ugghh.

whats the nightlife like in brixton, kennington, stockwell, herne hill etc. cos i wanna live somewhere a) relatively easy on the pocket, and b) where theres always shit happening, and also where i can smoke my leaf with minimum bother from the law

ermm....can I suggest you do a wee bit of research on 'nightlife in brixton', and indeed on the local geography, before asking that? you're not to know - you're half-a-planet away - so i'd suggest using this website's own listings, or google 'Time Out'
(hint; brixton is world famous for nightlife; as good a 'scene' as any to be found, anywhere in the world).

err, where the fuck did I get that from

hhmm

What about the last election?

Last May? Tories miles and miles behind in an extremely poor third place. Simon Hughes miles ahead (ca. 13,000 majority) with Labour a very poor second ... but the Tories weren't too far ahead of saving their deposit if I recall right.

Move to Brixton or a neighbouring area for the inner-city nightlife and plenty of stoner culture. Surrey is far more suburban, quieter and expensive. A compromise would be somewhere like Kingston or Wimbledon which are kind of half-way in between the two. You will have time to decide when you get here anyway as you will have to look around a bit to find flats etc - you can spend a few days visiting various places and decide for yourself which appeals most.

What about Wapping...? Well what about it ? If I had the money I'd consider it...very rich and ' gated ' to keep the riff raff out. Nice places to eat and smart shops. Big Waitrose, near the City and down by the smelly river for those misty dark evenings. Beats Brixton and Hoxton anyday.

Leytonstone is really rocking

Is it ? How ? Leytonstone is a main road borded on one side by the Central Line and on the other by the depressing Wanstead flats. Waltham Forest has the most increased rate of muggings in the capital. All the ' nice ' people live in Wanstead...anything beneath the Green Man is shite. I suppose its' near the proposed Olympic Site...so good place to buy a rent and thats it.
