<purist>
some of that is trance or house!

sorry, but i think you will find the answer to the OP here:

(NB: haven't got speakers on my work PC so hope this is the right version - should start with the scat vocal loop & Electric Choc italo piano sample)

and the runners up:

:)

but is that trance from when trance was good rather than the bollix they call trance these days ( ie hardhouse bleurggggh ) ? :)

objectshun m'lud, unless you can put moroder's i feel love & the chase or (tenuously) french kiss into the category of 'proto'-trance there has NEVER been any good trance music IMO. it really is just a mince genre. Like gabba. but at least that can be stupid and funny for about two minutes.

i would puit things like not-forgotten by left field and gat decors passion into said genre , some may call it house , but its far more trancy than that , if you think along those lines then were singing from the same sheet

. Like gabba. but at least that can be stupid and funny for about two minutes.

and still we disagree , the early mokum records ,terror trax and even knor records were excellent gabba which yes could be funny but were good for much longer than 2 mins , but like said trance , that a lot of that gabba became replaced with that shite that became ' happy hardcore..... '

admittedly some of that 'trance' would probably come under the techno genre so we maybe at odds just through individual name perception :)

hmmm...gat decor is a brilliant record, though i'd always thought of that more as a kind of 'boys own'-y track (progressive house?) than trance, but i can see what you mean.

strangely enough not forgotten is one record i simply NEVER got. could never see why folk were into it. or FSOL 'papua new guinea'. just left me totally cold. maybe it's cos the clubs i used to go to where those were the big tracks were sort of hooligan clubs and the atmosphere was always fairly tense with too many guys kinda swaying about to those songs.

is that first mescalinium united 12" ('we have arrived' i think?) the sort of thing you mean. that's a fucking amazing record (tho maybe that's not real gabba, sorry im not too au fait with that genre)

people generally say it's the 1st gabba record but it doesn't really sound that much like what it turned in to!

Age of Love?

That wasn't fucking gabba, and I don't care who tries to say that it is. Fucking awesome piece of hard-ass techno mate, with 2 brilliant Aphex remixes that I mentioned earlier.

I do, somewhere, have an old Dutch 12" called 'Gabbahouse', and it runs at about 180BPM, and has some dude going 'ghabba house. ghabba house, ghabba house, ghabbas'. That was pretty early on. Maybe Rotterdam by Rotterdam Termination Source, on Rotterdam Records...

Apollo 440 - Liquid Cool
Cygnus X - The Orange Theme
Orbital - Halycon
Jones & Stephenson - The First Rebirth
Underworld - Rez

All "trance", by some definition. All good, no mince.

Like gabba. but at least that can be stupid and funny for about two minutes.

Predator & Wedlock - Get On Down
Paradox - Guillotine
Bioforge - Turbulence
CeaseFire - Speakerblow
DJ Producer - The Butcher Is Back
R Wagner - Listen Carefully
Chosen Few - The Break

Again - all gabba, by some definition. And neither stupid nor particularly funny.

hmm ok at least you have a decent excuse - my first real experience of leftfield was seeing them play live at some festival in 1994/5, and they blew my mind, so not forgotten et al just takes me back to that experience every time.

90s tecxhno favourites thattaa very expansive amout of music to choose from from a range of changing genres but off the top of my head in the "techno" realm can i offer RE: some more classics.

F.U.S.E. - Substance Abuse - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3jyqp20Ax6g
PLANETARY ASSAULT SYSTEM -IN FROM THE NIGHT - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=uK1HK4Nz3R4
The Martian - Stardancer - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9zxle7SCLeY
Planetary Assault Systems was way past cool. Bit of Mr Mills, Mr Clarke, Mr Slater, UR collective, plus some SU4/Libs for some banging London Acid Techno and i think you'd be laughing for the best of 90's techno.

Perfect xes, all these. Nice man
I've posted this before, but it's well worth a repost for anyone who missed it first time round.
