While JC has a bit of a record I think in this case he was responding to a blatantly stupid comment.

I find it amazing that he was able to sell this, never mind that he was able to do it for so long. It basically ran along the lines of:

"Give me a fai bit of money, don't worry what I do with it as long as I give you some money each year."

I can expect this sort of shit from a 419 scam, but surely the folks putting money into this sort of thing should know better than that!

I find it amazing that he was able to sell this, never mind that he was able to do it for so long. It basically ran along the lines of:

This is the sales pitch of financial fraudsters and shysters throughout history, and while the money still keeps coming back + some more, no one cares. Remember the Lloyds names? Sold on essentially the same premise as this - there's some risk, but very high returns and almost no chance of you loosing your shirt.

Have a look at the history of bubbles and the language used to sell them, and be less amazed at the credulity of greedy people who want to make easy money.
