I like Buffy. I think I'll need to watch True Blood just to see, but TBH it'll have to climb a big mountain before it's even fit to lick Buffy's boots.
I'd do that - climb a mountain to lick Buffy's boots.

I think you will like True Blood from what Ive seen so far. The writing is great and the characters are fascinating from the off. No cliches yet.
OU
Being Human had so many faults, chief among them being it was trying too hard to be angsty AND to be witty AND light hearted, and the dialogue failed them time and again. The writing was poor and couldnt keep pace with the ideas. Very 'first project out of drama school' type stuff- mostly just ok, woeful in parts.
At times it ran smack straight into the Buffy Scooby Gang thing, and other times it tried to be edgy. You keep willing it to be better than it is.
The end was good, but mostly nice idea, poorly cast and poorly realised. The main antagonist had no menace to him, and tbh I wasnt feeling the ghost or the werewolf.
True Blood is nothing like Buffy.
Buffy's a kid's show, like Scooby Doo.
True Blood is grown up, x-rated vampire fare - more Near Dark than the Littlest Vampire.
It's about vampires, it's kids stuff. Same goes for Werewolves. The gore might be 'adult' and they might shoe horn 'adult' themes in, but ghosts, ghouls, Vamps and Werewolves are kiddy stuff IMV.
And Near Dark is a pile of shite - I was massively dissappointed in it, having read the reviews, had loads of mates bang on about it...
*bump*
as both have had 2 series (almost) I'm going to come down and say I have enjoyed this series of BH more than series 2 of TB.
The Mynaed storyline was just a bit to OTT (although I enjoyed it it was a bit silly)
Unless next weeks BH fucks it up royally I think this has the edge on true blood atm. Main arcs as well as interesting character focused episodes like the moody Smiths loving ghost one and the whole learning to defeat the door.
