Being British is about being loyal to Britain, not just your documents.

Exactly my point. That's why I was shocked.

Which orifice?

Mark 3

23 Jesus told the people to gather around him. Then he spoke to them in parables and said:
How can Satan force himself out? 24 A nation whose people fight aganst each other won't last very long. 25 And a family that fights won't last long either. 26 So if Satan fights against himself, that will be the end of him.

I have to say that my views have changed since having this discussion. When it comes down to you have to trust people, I have expressed my views and concerns about the way the UK is headed. It looks like I'm the only one who has these views. I am going to trust that Violent Panda and others here, that they are right. I am either wrong or the problem is not bad enough yet. After all, The Titanic has not hit the iceberg yet, sorry I couldn't resist, what I am saying is that I'm a lot more chilled out now than when I originally posted, this message boards have helped me deal with the anger I was feeling, many thanks.

So now you're claiming to base your thesis on an excerpt of the gospels?

Did it ever occur to you that the point might be allegorical rather than literal, what with Jesus being a religious and all, and Jewish scriptural commentary being rife with allegory?

It's not a question of being a sheep and following the views of others.

It's a question of formulating your own views and opinions, but of doing so with reference to fact rather than whimsy, religious bias, or indeed political bias.

I was thinking of the later, 'Eastern' empire. I think the earlier emperors were examples of the idiocy of going for 'strong leaders' as an answer to the failings of very limited and money-dominated democracy in running the imperium.

Are you referring to what is called "The Byzantine Empire"?
