Being able to communicate with 'the dead'

There is no 'void' surrounding the universe. It's like saying the corners of a circle.

Yeah I know I just didnt want people to say 'the universe isnt infinite' etc :)

Much as I'd like to believe that there is life after death, simple observations made during my time in this planet so far have led me to the conclusion that this simply is not the case... same goes for ghosts...

Still, each to their own, hey, whatever makes you happy and all that...

Just cause we can't see an edge doesn't mean that there ain't one though. The theorists could be wrong and the universe may indeed be finite and just so incredibly big it seems like its infinate.

If I wanted to talk to the dead I'd email Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, and Bob Weir.

If it was really possible to contact the dead (100% verrifyable) the US government would kill such individuals in the interests of national security. We'd know what really happened to JFK, Elvis and Groucho Marx (the world's most deadliest secret).

It almost certainly is finite, but it may or may not have an edge.

And 9/11, don't foreget that.

Altho I suspect that my attempt at that 'humour' stuff has been missed...maybe I should have capitalised 'dead'...

What did the dead have to say?

i didnt ask any direct questions.

but i did feel able to 'slip into peoples souls'

i spoke to a racist man at work. he told me he thought the blacks were breeding like rabbits. i said 'so what do you think will become of the world?'
he said 'well i dont know, if this black mans mind is anything to go on.'

i can translate that to you as i understood it at the time. just Fear of the Unknown/ Mystery. i was able to relate to it as such and talk to him, without feeling any anger at how he felt.

i didnt see any good or bad anywhere. everyone felt equal on a spiritual level. and i could imagine that we are all one in this other existance.

Nah I still don't get it. Besides I hope Bill Gates and Outlook hasn't reached the afterlife already I really do.

(I did get it, I'm only messing with ya)

i dont WANT to. that would be being too forceful, to long for it.

but if it feels like its going to happen again, i may slip into that state again. like i say i dont fear it, its very pleasant experiencing the light in people.

Venti for me...:D

BTW, this forum is 'Theory, Philosophy and History' not 'supernatural codswallop wot I thunked happened to me after too many drugs and listening to max's podcast'.

Perhaps we should should have a seperate "Mumbo-Jumbo" subforum for this and the religious stuff. Mods?

er... that's called a conversation.

if it's finite then it must, at some point, reach a condition that in some ways could be described as 'an edge'. surely?

And what is beyond the edge? Nothing?

Is nothing something?

Gah!

Another universe maybe. One of the parralel ones where my evil twin sports a nifty goatee.

Solid cheese - it doesn't have to make sense.

Hell

I don't feel like a medium anymore. But a few weeks ago, I felt able to communicate with the dead and living at the same time. I didnt really feel a distinction between the worlds, as I felt like i was in the middle.

Im not insane, and I felt safe and happy doing this. I could slip into peoples souls and see things through their eyes, which was very interesting and positive. I didnt see any badness in people, just people the wrong side of the goodness in them.

Good and evil, are pretty earthly concepts. I saw there just being a perfect natural direction of things, and people all trying to get on it. Often channeling their energy wastefully.

When I was in this state I felt in perfect balance and at peace with the world.

When I was in this state my mum got spooked by a 'ghost fish'. I later got the wrong side of the energy myself, and switched back to earth.

This is the second time this has happened to me. Has anyone else had any experience of this? :)

You sound quite delusional tbh.

How do you know you were 'slipping into peoples souls' and not simply thinking about a conversation with someone?

of course nothing is something. nothing is just space-time in which there is no matter and no light has yet reached. but it has potential to be filled up.

the way i look at it, the material universe that operates in the set of dimensions that we do may be finite, but there is no point where an immortal travelling the universe will reach its end.

i don't have the maths to back that up though.

Where is the edge of the surface of the earth? To an observer on the ground, it it a flat thing, yet it has no edge.

Now add an extra dimension.

surely the edge IS the surface. and adding an extra dimension doesn't make any difference to my understanding of the issue...

Hence my mentioning of void earlier.....

I'll leave you and crispy to argue this one out :)

i dont know, it was just a feeling i had. total empathy of my heart, rather than my ego trying to find a place where some of the feelings match up. it was effortless

Ah, this was on Atom. It's been proven that even in a vacuum, where all the atoms have been removed, there's still stuff in there - energy borrowed from the future annihilates itself to create the energy it borrowed.

Yes is sounds like bollocks, but it's true.

Ok, how about this.

You're a 2 dimensional creature living on a flat plain. For you, the 3rd dimension does not exist. However, the 3rd dimension does exist, and someone has curved your flat plain into a cylinder. You can't tell, because you, light, and everything else continues to move only along the surface of the plain. But, if you travel in one direction, you end up back where you started. If your plain is curved again into a sphere, then you can travel in any direction and end up where you started.

For our universe, the flat 3d world may be curved in many other dimensions, making it closed and edgeless.

You call the surface of the sphere an edge, because for you, a 3d being, a sphere has an inside and an outside. But to mr.2d, it only ever has a surface.

Similarly, we will never see the 'edge' of a closed 3d universe, as we only ever see those 3 dimensions.

You cant fuck with that

Think how far fetched that sounds......many years ago we'd have made the same remarks about it that you lot are making to i-a-y-i :p
