Been layed off :/

How convenient that they managed to 'let you go' just before your year was up. Cunts.

I hope you fnd something better :)

sorry to hear this. I remember you did mention you weren't happy there. However that is no compensation for the kick in the teeth it is when losing a job (I have had one reundancy and a job loss to my name for this year!:(:D) However, I'm enjoying sitting out in the sun and although dole don't pay alot, sometimes it feels a lot better than hateing getting up in the morning.

You have a mortgage?

I get a month, but they've asked me to work it.

Been there 10 months. Hated every minute of it, but hid it well. Beat all my targets by some way.

Fuck.

No grounds for dismissal other than 7 days off with flu at xmas which they know was genuine.

They're making you work your month's notice? That's really mean.

Yep, there isn't much you can do with less than a year's service unless the dismissal procedures are contractual. I've got a case like that at the moment - banged in a breach of contract claim instead cos that's not service related.

Worth checking.

so sorry to hear that mate. worry not, a man of your talent will find something else - hopefully something you enjoy this time.

(j said this is a case of password everything and let off a virus on your last day)

I'm not even sure what these job titles mean CF but good luck in your jub hunt. Why do employers think they get away with treating people like that?

Oh yeah. Chris do you get occupational sick pay (i.e. company top up to SSP)? Not that I'm suggesting that the way they've treated you has resulted in work related stress or owt ...

Yes, I believe they do. What does that mean? I get signed off with stress, and they keep paying me? :hmm: I like the sound of that shit

That's the idea! (Check the small print first in case they don't pay the first three days or summat similar. Plus the amount).

Also, if they're sensible they might start to worry about a PI claim :D

Hmm, do they pay me past the end of my month's notice? :hmm:

I guess not, but I'd love to see the look on their face if I had them pay me for the next year or so

Probably not :( But it's worth checking contract/handbook etc. Some employers can be right dim.

what would happen if you just didn't turn up for the last month? or called in sick? you know, indeterminate back pain... nerve problems.. anxiety.. whatever you feel you can get away with?

You owe them nothing, let's face it.

Oh, and superglue the locks obviously. But not straight away, or they'll know it's you. Give it 6 months. ;)

I think you're legally entitled to time off to look for work. I don't know the details but I'd find out.

Good luck :)

me being in hospital / signed off held up my redundancy process by nearl 3 months, it only actually finalised this week

i know someone that was let go the day before his year was up. which happened to be christmas eve.

sorry to hear it chrisfilter - a mate of mine got laid off today too :(

My company just happened to let me go just 3 months before 2 years was up, pity or I'd have got some extra cash out of them. Employers are bastards and none of the bastards in charge ever gets a decent kick in the arse

You have my sympathies anyway, just dont apply for anything I am ;)

That's his warts.

I'm not going to offer you pity, Chris. You hated that job. Instead I'm going to offer you hearty congratulations at your fortune, as now you get to go out there and get an even better one. Good luck, and don't despair mate.
