Beef stew/casserole

are they bugger :p they're all dry

if you don't like suet dumplings whydon't you try a cobbler instead?

They're not dry!
The bottom half soaks up all the sauce, the top is crusty - best of both worlds... ...and I like 'em just fine like that - that's the point!

Not this time... I'll have mash and carrots :)

Might try those delia dumplings that sheo posted next time though.

If using Stout, I find Mackeson's is best as it's a milk stout - the sweetness works well in a stew.
Couldn't find this so went with Guinness... it's smelling lovely.. probably another half hour or so :)

Was gonna post a pic of Homer drooling but look at this one:

You should have that as a screen saver

Mine smells good, dunno what it'll be like though.

Shop didn't have any stewing steak so I chopped some rump steak, threw a load of veg in, an oxo cube, 1.5 pints of guinness and whatever herbs I could find... clueless cook mode.

Do you really need self raising flour for dumplings?? I bought plain and really can't be arsed to go back to the shop....:S
