I was unusually gutted when this came to light.
I've always really, really liked Beck , right from the off, and I just can't get my head around this easy going, intelligent & talented person, falling in with these wacko's.

I've always really, really liked Beck , right from the off, and I just can't get my head around this easy going, intelligent & talented person, falling in with these wacko's.
i was talking about beck being a scientologist with a freind last night.she mentioned that he was involved at at a young age because his parents were members(his dad was a conceptual "happenings" artist,dont know about his mum..but scientology back in the 70s wasn't exposed as being a cult, it was seen as personal growth/experimental therapy,a lot of writers(most famously william burroughs) and artists/muscians like incrdible string band joined
..it does seem to be a difficult "religion" to leave
..well esp the longer you have been in it..
i wish i had more info about why he kept quiet(as far as i know)until fairly recently about being a member himself..

Was listening to Beck again last night - first time in a while. Other than the scientology stuff, on a music level, I've seen him quite a few times live over the years and pretty much liked everything he's ever done.
