Beautiful Days Festival, Devon, August 2006 : Anyone going??

Aw. The Ottery Brewery.

I grew up very close to that place. we used to go there at night and nick all the bottles they left outside and in the skip and get reet tanked then go to our school disco.

Happy Days.

Twill be good to see you :)

I owe you a beer or two for that tunes for a dead Thatcher CD ... :D

I may well hold you to that :)
Just booked my ticket, really looking forward to this. Oh and I'm thinking of driving if anyone wants a lift from south-ish london? Should be two or three spaces in the car (depending on whether I decide to take my nipper or not - looks like it's well set up for kiddies but then again if he's there I won't be able to get muntered...decisions decisions...:D)

Shame!!

I forgot - I'm going to a friend's wedding that weekend.

:(

The 'just realised' factor ... :(

Weddings, sometimes combined with the 'just realised' factor, sometimes not, screw up more peoples' festival plans than any other

People should be BANNED from getting married between May and September IMNVHO .... :D

Oh well, presume no-one's getting married on June 4 ;)

I know. :(

For those lucky folks who are going, go and see the Oysterband. Even if they ain't really your thing, they are absolutely awesome live!

What's the significance of June 4, btw? is that the Routemaster farewell pub crawl, or summat? :)

this is true: i'm not a massive fan of their albums but whenever i've seen them live i've danced my little socks off :D (does the singer ever take his sunglasses off??)

(hey, it's a couple of months away, there's still time for the happy couple to fall out and for the wedding to be cancelled ;))

I don't think he does. Google-image 'oysterband,' and John Jones is wearing his sunglasses in just about every picture on there.

He's got a great voice though, and he plays the melodeon. I think he's rather good-looking too tbh. :o ;)

God knows what horrors are concealed behind them. I always imagine him taking them off and it being like that moment in Withnail & I when Danny removes his

yup. I would ;) (wonder if he takes the shades off for shagging purposes?)

Well I really wanna go to this as last year I couldent make it and it was my bday weekend and I was'nt able to sell the ticket.

I would like to do this one with out kid in tow as he will be with me for the others that I'm going to so depending on arangements with baby father I may be there!!!!! :)

News I've heard today is that half the Beautiful Days tickets are now sold. Apparantly Mark of the Levs announced this in a local radio interview in Devon.

Selling quite quickly, in other words

Might be as well to get on the case, if you're interested ...

Last week the Beautiful Days organisers were briefly confirming on their website that The Beat had PULLED OUT :(

But just the other day 'The Knowledge' (works in the Levellers offices, organising the festival) posted on the BD part of the EFestivals forums that The Beat had been reinstated!!

He apologised for confusion .....

Almost full Beautiful Days line-up

Have tickets, and on my way! :D

Though I've already seen Chas And Dave once this year - a bitter disappointment. They seem to be taking themselves far too seriously - as proper 'blooze musos' - these days...and Chas has gone and shaved his head and all...! :(

Hmmm - this is just up the road from MY NEW HOME!!!!! so sounds tempting - Hybrid are playing in the dance tent who I'd love to see - and the Peatbog Faeries are my soundtrack to bombing round the West Coast of Scotland on the best holiday I've ever had so would be great to see them live :)

Hmmm...

*scrapes pennies together*

I want to go but I'll be on my own. Too scary :(

But there'll be loads of Urbanites to socialise with! :)

Wish I'd had interwebby type friends when I was doing so many solo festivals back in the 90s! :(

Very few of my real life friends back then were into festivals ....
