Beatherder Festival

Excellent festival, really enjoyed it! Was worried about the logistics of taking a 10-month old but she had the best weekend of her life so far, we chatted to 20+ people a day about bringing a baby and how perfect Beatherder is :D

Highlights for me were:

Monkey Wrenchers – saw them both times they played (but sadly didn’t manage to say hi to Tim), excellent sound and Liberty’s first ever live band – I was the beardy bloke with the baby in the pink hat in the Working Mens Club singing along to Big Rock Candy Mountain :D

Fenny from On the Wire DJing – only saw the first hour as Liberty had to go to bed but had a fantastic time

Staying up with Tangerine Dream until it got light in the Bushrocker tent – my kind of place!

Young Punx and Beardyman on the main stage

Alan Rose in WMC on Sunday afternoon – took shelter from the rain and spent a lovely hour watching a charming gentleman

Meeting lovely urbs!

Unfortunately Liberty passed on a crappy D&V bug which hit us both while at the festival but not eating or drinking after Sat lunchtime meant we saved some money!

Cyberfairy – sorry we disappeared with your sunblock and caused you to get sunburn – please feel free to set fire to some of my possessions in atonement :(

Wickerman in two weeks! Yay!

Maybe I could burn your stuff in a big wickerman? :hmm: I suspect the sunburn was inevitable-it's getting better now but due to the top with the straps I was wearing, it looks like I was wearing an enormous giant bra.
Glad you enjoyed it-had a feeling you might:cool:
I love it-a unique and happily chaotic festival in such beautiful surroundings. And such large vodkas....

Woooooo!!!! Beat-Herder might just be one of the best festival experiences of the summer!!
Totally lovely place, people and surroundings. Excellent ale and huge strong-tasting tequilas. Scrummy food and the site art was just top!!

Highlights for me were Nathan Ball (watching people slowly get more and more horizontal with chilledness), Loonaloop, Dub Pistols but mostly Banco De Gaia, possibly the best set I have seen him do since he headlined the Avalon in 95, he was on amazing form!!

Only lowlight was I opened a new batch of Bilberry on the Saturday and it must have second-fermented as I was far too trashed by 1am and missed Tetchi.

Lovely to spend time with Sojourner and very nice to meet Bob!

Back next year for sure..

Sunday afternoon/evening in the Smoky Tentacles tent listening to a brilliant, obviously classically-trained, guitarist, singing some sort of bliss-inducing music. The entire tent slowly relaxed so much we were almost asleep by the end of it

ello mate :)

so it was Nathan Ball then eh? I have to admit, I have no idea of most of the band names we saw, and looking at the programme doesn't help cos I had no idea of times at all :D

Me and Bob have an embarassing tale to tell re Banco :o We were sat in the Camels Arse tent, completely and utterly stoned out of our trees, and were blithering about Banco coming on, not knowing who/what it/he was. Anyway, after about an hour of extremely stoned chair-dancing, I said 'god they're late on aren't they?'. Bob went to check, and erm, we'd been listening to Banco all that time :o

Well the fucking crowd didn't clap so we just thought it was filler til the act came on :o

It was wasted on you soj:rolleyes::mad:

My review is up on virtual festivals if anyone is interested-didn't intend to review it so all a bit hazy...

It wasn't wasted! I chair danced to within an inch of my life! I just didn't realise there was someone ON the actual stage :D

Will check that review :)

No one got any photies up yet then?

Hehe, love these bits:

Everyone here is mad. And also trashed. It is the most up for it crowd I have ever seen. Nobody sleeps. Ever.

fresh fruit was at market prices with people queuing for it in the happy expectancy it would cure them from the spectacularly unholy excesses of the night before. It seemed to work. I bought some watermelon to counteract the fifty-seven vodkas. We LOVED that stall - we got the perfect accompaniment to tequila in pints of freshly juiced pineapple/lime/apple/kiwi

You didn't mention the fire! That fire was one of my highlights :D HUGE logs, kept going throughout all the biblical downpours

Ohhh, wish I was back there doing it all again!

Me too:( I didn't see the fire much but loved that it was there-a festival without a fire is like err tonic without gin or something. People talk like mad uns to strangers around a fire:) Not that people at beat herder needed much encouragement:hmm:

hehe - ain't that the truth. i must have talked to a good bloody half of the festival :D walking round the site was an endless series of 'hiyyaaa, how you doin?'/hugs/hand shaking/thumbs up to people I'd only met once before :D

Aww, I've still got this big daft grin on my face, that I suspect is there forever now, whenever I think about it

Mental festival. Just quality

Sorry I've been a bit distracted by Torchwood this week :o Will try to get mine online either over the weekend or early next week.

Torchwood? Bloody telly?!

Looking forward to seeing them mate, and pogo's  If I thought there was a hope in hell of me being able to a) not forget I had a camera, b) keep it in one piece, c) remember to take photos, and d) the photos being anything other than blurry shite, I would deffo take pics

:D Got a good one of you Soj, wearing a very lovely pink sunhat :) Did anyone see the red arrows (human version) performing up by the camp fire on Sunday - they even had smoke!
I also found out that the stories about the girl running around naked and hugging sheep last year were totally true - and I now know who it was!

That's now my favourite hat. It works in so many different conditions :D So versatile

Oh - I remember you taking that pic - send it over pm, so i can check it out first :o:D

I was shocked at seeing you in that very girly hat, you looked like princess Di on the turn

:D I'm not sure why I even like it, but I do, lots. It's not girly pink, and it fits really well on my head. Stays on throughout wind, rain, and is ace against blinding sunshine

Seeing that pic though, shows me how little co-ordination over clothing I do actually have :(:D

Yay - ace pics, but there could have been more of that fire ;). My lovely lovely fire

Yeh - didn't get that whole dry ice thing
