Beatherder Festival

Might just?? be worth some further research on that? Might it not be possible to split a long journey into two or even three slices (e.g. via Manc or Preston or something), to cut the cost? I speculate that the cost of local within-Lancashire trains on their own might be quite low .... Good luck! :)

I tried a few other options and sites last night - Its already three trains from me but local options just added another tenner to the already staggering price.

Think I'd be driving to this one - It will be about half the cost! :(

Mind you, I have yet to check the Cross Country services via Dundee/Leeds/East coast - They seem a bit cheaper than via the west, which is all the various search engines are currently offering.

Also - worth checking out getting to Liverpool maybe? You could stop over at mine on the Thursday pogo, if that helps, and we could drive down together?

Thanks - that might be a good option. I've looked at Abdn/Liverpool trains fairly recently for someone else and I don't remembering them being nearly as bad as this.

Boss has buggered-off till the 13th so 'll get the final OK then but this is beginning to look very possible. :)

Last time I was in Clitheroe, or rather the town nearer to the festival, someone made a very serious attempt at stealing my bike!

Well, check it out again. I've got my arse into gear and have booked off 2th - 7th inclusive, so would be fine for picking you up from Lime St on the Thursday, and dropping you back off there on the Monday :)

Well you won't have your bike this time will you? :p

I might yet decide to take the bike and make a few days round trip of it. I usually do more local festivals (eg Belladrum/Moray Firth) on two wheels but it is nice to take a few extras for further away ones - and I've been glad of the car as emergency shelter at Knockengorroch in the past when it bucketed. ;)

Always enjoyed riding around North Yorkshire though - Went to quite a few of the Easter rallies nr Settle and around Whitby a while back - great fun! :)

It's a fucking QUALITY part of the world, it really is. I only have to get to a certain point on the M62 and I break into a big grin. so gorgeous

Thanks - I'll be in touch when I'm a little more sorted.

Yup, one of my absolute favourite parts of England and, yes there are a couple of points on the way south that do just the same to me. Although I've not had much chance to be down there in the last few years. Last time was in 03 I think, some time in Leeds, then the Ripon/Patley Bridge area.

However, I've told the motorbike/road full of semi-digested human shit/cycle club, story a few times here before - That happened on a road very near to Beatherder. Nobody made an attempt to steal my bike after that one - PEW! :D

Right - Beginning to get some slightly more sensible PT prices last night, via Leeds and to Liverpool. :)

Nice one mate

Think I might buy my ticket today actually - don't wanna miss out on this, what with it being small, cheap, local, and some of my favourite people ever going :)

Got your ticket then, jolly good :D

Oh yes

Fuck the bank account - I wanna go :D

Am all happy cos I've booked leave for this, Solfest, and a week in May doing fuck all. Maybe a trip to Hebden is the May thing :)

e2a, not the whole week, obviously.

It's about time you came here again missis :)

OK, I have the time off and I am just waiting for confirmation on timing for the one job I have waiting when I come back. :)

With luck, I will have my tickets ordered by the end of the day. :)

Don't forget also the Hebden thread in Community, in which Flipp and I suggested a while back that people come to the World On Your Doorstep Festival at Hebden in July (Sat 18th and Sun 19th). No website yet, but tis free! :)

You could push the boat out and do 2 trips though I'm sure :D

</derail>

Is WOYD definitely on then?? Last we heard the organisers hadn't got their act together and there's no mention of it on Hebweb.

Back on track - Looks like we are a Yay for Beatherder having freed up a bit of holiday by deciding to give WOMAD a miss this year :D:D
