Bearded Theory 2010

I'll be the one looking like fucking Michelin Man, wearing 7 layers and a big furry hat :D

Fucks sake, I am STILL ILL  Think I might take a duvet as well as my sleeping bag :hmm:

I'll be the one with the dressing gown over the seven layers of warm clothing :D

Beer tent Friday sounds good. And Hobo Jones.

Beer tent Friday is where the bearded theory bulletin boards are having their meetup.

1:30 I believe. Let's infiltrate, it would almost be rude not to.

Well here we are in sunny Ashbourne, In Chateau Pay&Display. I've been up for Hooooours! *bouncebouncebounce* I don't know how rich! Can sleep on a day like this.
Going round the town again in a minute.

I'll be asleep by 9, won't I  :D

Hope to set out not long after 8, but we have a looong drive :(

No way will we be there by 1:30! :hmm:

But hoping to catch people in the beer tent later this afternoon :)

More and better toilets would have been appreciated - I must admit to a midnight bout of phoning, emailing and generally whinging!

But the rest of it was rather excellent. I'd forgotten I had a scarf to go with the dressing gown :D

That was an excellent weekend. It seemed to go by in a flash though!

Friday was so freezing we had to go back to bed for a bit :D

Brilliant little festie, I agree about the bogs though, Trouble is once they're all seen to run out of roll, the next time they're filled up everyone has got their siege/drought head on, and nicks it all for later, leading to a spiral of bogroll tragedy.

I wonder where it's going to be next year? I'm hoping for somewhere not on a windy hill, maybe somewhere a bit more southern. :D

Music .. slightly retro, but being of a certain age that is not something i am going to complain about. Don't think i have made the effort to be in front of a stage so much for many years.

Sound on main stage... awesome, one of the best out door PAs heard for a long time, plenty of ooomph with lots of clarity. Could be heard on campsite perfectly with no distortion.

Food... vegetarianism did seem to be a bit of an after thought, but managed to find some nice grub.

Vibe ... perfect. Lots of people letting it all hang out, but without loads of munters staggering about. Not one laughing gas cylinder spotted. Lots of old acquaintances bumped into.

Weather... no complaints from me

Security ... low profile but professional (some tent robbing going on, but not sure if security will ever prevent anything like that.)

I thought the bogs were most excellent. Always clean and tidy - and i took me own roll with me each time i fancied a sit down, but never used it cos there was always some in there. I will say though, a bit of lighting for the bogs would not go a miss.

WTF? You were never more than a minute or two away from a nice clean bog with paper!

not once during the weekend did I go to a toilet which had paper. Maybe my timing was out? ;)

As above, was using the campervan field toilets. I may have seen one with paper once, in the main arena.

Right, back in work now, so of course time to post a lil report!

Good festie overall, but have one big gripe - the security. They were completely arsey on the Friday, stopping us putting wood on the communal camp fire after midnight, telling us to go to bed and be quiet (!), patrolling the campsite with torches and telling people to be quiet (people who were only talking mind, not having some kinda mini rave), and closing off the fence by the exit resulting in me and Bob doing 5 laps of the site trying to find the way out!! Then being ultra scathing with us when we mentioned how confusing it was having the fence closed!

Apart from the security, who had settled right down by the Saturday (communal fire going all night, only got to bed at 8.30 Sunday morning), top little festie. Nice size, great vibe, good food, top tunes.

Excellent to meet Stig and Rich!, and Festivaldeb, and all the other lovely people we made instant mates with.

We had a couple of pure festival moments too - up in the little tea tent in the top corner, when security told us to go to bed and turn the cd player off, someone found a guitar and we played and sang  Saturday night/Sunday morning round the fire, another guitar, 5 more guitarists (including a Smurf), people singing and nattering - fucking quality

Ooo dance tent was fucking brilliant on the Saturday as well  Cheers Flipp

Afraid we missed the one band I wanted to see - Dreadzone - thanks to a combination of barely any sleep, being immensely cold, still being unwell, and a Pieminster pie and mash. And lying down  Out for the count til Monday morning, duh :D

The best of my photos are now online

There's lots more shots of the bands to follow on Virtual Festivals but their upload facility is buggered at the moment.

Nice one mate

Porta Party!! Ace - we loved them!

The erm Magical Sounds thing - dance tent, yes? I have a question about possible cheekiness/nudity about them lot...although it could well have been the state of my mind at that point, and my focus not being what it should...:hmm:
