Yes I am sure

I'm using a NETGEAR dg834 v3 on Be at home here.

Funnily enough I got it installed in 4 days at work! Goes live tomorrow (friday)... I ordered it tuesday!

I'm only using it for a site at work because of the upload speed (1.3 mb/s) which is handy for VPN connections!

I run my web server on my ADSL line (and do VPN into the office quite a bit) so it's attractive for similar reasons :)

I was getting dropped connections everyday for the first two weeks, sometimes a few minutes apart. It was most annoying. Has levelled out now though.

They were probably training your line, mine was a bit like that at first, now am syncd at 21mb, although have been at 23mb at one point.

I still struggle to get 8mb on my... 8mb line. I usually stop when it synchs in at 4mb, but if I'm persisten enough it manages it without too much difficulty. All too often it settles on 512k.

yeah training my line to stay 4 meg :(

 how far away from the exchange are you ?

I know of people 4-5 km away from the exchange that have better speeds than that.

out of interest what is your upload sync ? are you getting the full 1.3mb ?

not far from the forest hill exchange. My upload is normally about 1.25. I have 3 master sockets in the house, coming in on 3 seperate lines from the telephone pole. I have a feeling these may be the problem. All three sockets (if open them and connect directly) max at about 5.25mb.

I have indeed.

Also, got an email from Be this morning saying that they could not go ahead with installation due to unknown problem with BT line. I called BT, they activated the line straight away. Then I called Be and they said the problem was solved and so will continue with installation.

Sounds familiar.. Be are claiming there's an 'incompatible product' on the line.. BT say they're chatting shit. If it's not sorted in a couple of days I might just get my usual f2s connection.

Pffft.. great. It's not working. Phone line seems fine, can make cals, etc, etc. BT man came out to have a look and it's fine. Be say that their line tests come back fine, so basically I'm fucked. Neither company will take liability.

I'm paying £24 a month for nothing :(

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do about it.. what a load of shit!

Try a different adsl2+ router

I had exactly the same problem, and it turned out that they had sent me a duff router.

The Bulgarian dudes were pretty cool when I rang back, they're sending me a new router, same day delivery.. sweet!

Fingers crossed it's that.. I've installed several different firmwares, no change.

Ok, after using for a while, all I can say is "frickin sweet!" - I'm downloading more TV than I can possibly watch, plus I'm running the webcam I always dreamed of. The router they give you is pretty beefy, and there's been no downtime so far (although I think they have 15 minutes scheduled for a night this week)

Reccomended.

Yeah, I'm moderately impressed with our service as well. Although my cpu died on me the other day so can't use it at the mo'.

Finally, after a month of phone calls Be run their millionth line test and go "oh yeah, there might be a problem, sorry" - YOU FUCKING THINK SO?! useless fucks.

Still not sorted, but at least they found a fucking obvious problem after a month. The line was completely dead last night, even phone wouldn't work. Let's see what the Muppet Show that is Be and BT have pulled out of the hat now

Mine is supposed to be activated tonight... hope it's not like the above!

Only ordered it 8 days ago too....

Activated on time, working fine so far.

Downstream 13,321.9 Kbps ( = 13.0 Mbps )
Upstream 1,106.5 Kbps ( = 1.1 Mbps )
