Be my assistant!

Does anyone want a job as my assistant? None of the applicants so far have been much cop. It's either graduates that don't even return phonecalls when you want to offer them a job, graduates who don't even turn up for interview, or middle aged indian fellows who have more experience than you can shake a stick at but live in India.

Will you be loyal and pretend to know slightly less than me at all times? Can you 'look busy' at the drop of a hat? Will you work for crap money? On second thoughts don't bother, I undestand totally why no one wants to work for me.

Why is it that bosses think that paying the absolute minimum wage they can possibly get away with will be a good idea? :( Thing is they don't seem to be getting away with it at the moment.

Wowzers, where I come from that is not minimum wage. In publishing that is what you get after a years hard graft if you're lucky...

Yeah, I thought the money looked ok too :D Pity I know nothing about computers...

Assistant IT Manager 18-20k rofl....

Seriously, review that add, it's bollocks (as you already stated). Just changing the job title will get you better (more suitable) applicants.

Change the title to IT first line support and you'll get what you need. Alternatively if you want to outsource it, I'll do you a deal ;)

My boss has set the job title and description, that's why I'm pissed off. It's "assistant" manager because it'll be me and the assistant. There will be no real project management stuff, it's basically "can you fix this?" "can you do that?"

1st/2nd line support and ad hoc duties. It's just so much more difficult when non IT people think it's a good idea to big up a job.

It's not minimum wage, but it's the absolute minimum wage for a tecchy job.

what does goes south mean?
your changing uni?
May end up doing that, or just finishing it through the OU. (going south is being used as slang for cocking it up or failing)

But this is offtopic (and quite boring no doubt).
