I cooked mackerel last month on the bbq following some west indian recipe - it was quite nice, though the simple lemon, herbs and butter did the trick. I wrapped both fish in foil.

some of my happiest boy hood memories are of barbequeing mackerel I'd caught myself off the coast at Pontllyfni - shop bought mackerel never taste as good ...

That is true - north Walian mecryll - the best in the world

remember to use seperate tongs, forks and other implements for raw and cooked food

an important yet often overlooked piece of BBQ safety etiquette :)

This evening I'm mustering up a BBQ tea for mrs1798 and I so am looking for some nice ideas.. an easy salad perhaps.

Currently the menu is looking like

Jerk Chicken
Pepper seaspned Irish sausages
Four Seasons salad with apple or spinach, avacadoe and lemon cheese.
Egg & Cheddar mayo
Corn on the cob
Seasoned pasta
If that's not enough for 2 people you must have huge appetites.

I recenctly found that BBQ squash is very nice indeed.
Cut butternut squash into pieces and put in the microwave with no water for 5 mins. marinade in mix of honey/soyasause/chilli sauce.
put on squewers and BBQ as normal. MMmmmmmmmmm. Lovely (and suitable for vegans if you deduct the honey.

I like doing a honey and soy sauce chicken. Use a marinade of some honey, soy sauce and chinese five spice over chicken. Barbeque to your hearts content :)

I've recently discovered paneer tikka kebabs.
Scewer peices of paneer, peppers and red onion and cover with a tikka marinade for a bit before cooking :)
