BBQ etiquette

Well I do remember a BBQ with a friend and his girlfriend they had organized and brought food cooked everything as per.

Then at the end of afternoon a group of about 8 friends of the girlfriend and other people from her class in uni. just stood up to leave...without even offering to help do 5 minutes clean up. My mate went ballistic and threatened them with a shovel if they didn't help.

Jesus, what a loon. I would never expect my guests to clean up. That's my job, and it can wait until everyone has gone home.

I've been to barbecues before where we were asked to bring food, and so brought, I dunno, a value pack of lamb spleens or a hundredweight of sausages with cinnamon and lime or whatever. Something for everyone to share, anyway. And then I've watched in bemusement as guests pulled individual cuts of meat out of side pockets to cook for themselves, helping themselves only to the accompaniments laid on by the hostess. That's not normal, is it?

I've seen those people. They are the same ones who mark their bottles so they can if anyone else has been drinking it.

:hmm:
