BBFC bans a film outright - Grotesque

I didn't really find Audition scary.

Anyway, I'd have thought something like Visitor Q would warrant a banning more than Audition on the grounds of perversity :D

Audition isnt scary, just very gory & painful towards the end. Visitor Q is perverse . After watching it a few years ago i think i described it on here as a film about a family but not a family film.
Im curious about Grotesque as ive often thought about buying the book.

This Grotesque then.

It's very silly.

The bit nr the end with the head/bite/land of hope and glory was quite funny.

Other than that, the whole thing was very pointless and too daft to be taken seriously and even to find particularly gross or grim.

To be fair to the BBFC, they have become very liberal in recent years.

Many old banned resubmitted "Video Nasties" are passed uncut (some even getting a 15).

They allow stuff like Anti-Christ and gave the Dark Knight a 12A.

Films like Die Hard and The Terminator are now 15s and so can be shown during the day on Sky Movies.

The only area they seem to crack down on is the R18 cat. According to Melonfarmers almost all the cuts and R certs are at this level.

Any cuts to films now seem to be a the request of the film company to achieve a lower rating - the BBFC always say with cut films "An uncut higher certificate was available to the distributor".
