BBFC bans a film outright - Grotesque

Isn't there still a "deprave and corrupt" clause rather than just "this is just torture isn't it, not even any plot"?
Yes, that's still the definition of obscenity, but the CPS apparently don't expect any charge to work in jury trial unless there are children, animals or rape involved.

I would have never downloaded this if it wasn't for the ban.

Probably won't "watch" it as such either - just sort of scroll through and check out the gross bits out of curiosity.

:hmm:

I won't d/l and passively watch one individual torture sexually a male and a female until they die from their injuries.
Ban seems justified.

On a personal level, just watching it would give me nightmares and bad images in my mind forever.

I wish they would ban more films.

Not for being violent, just for being shit.

They should do that for people too.

In order to be allowed in general society, you have to be submitted for rating first.

If someone is really, really shit, they get slapped with an X-rating, are only allowed to live in Harlow and can only leave the house for designated areas between 1.00am and 3.00am.

Doesn't this ruling make it illegal to own?
No. It doesn't even make it illegal to stream it online or offer for download, as the BBFC has no jurisdiction. It also doesn't necessarily mean it is legal to own it, that would depend on any future court case.

I like the cut of your jib

cos it sounds extreme and trangressive - that interests a lot of people

It's not even that violent - there's only 3 scenes of proper violence, 1 of which is nothing and last for about 2 seconds. The second is just common place horror stuff (the worst of which isn't shown) - it's only the inventive last scene (again, you don't really see much) that makes it stand out.

i just watched this yesterday

it's not bad, has its moments but some of it is very unrealistic, im sure the girl should be SCREAMING blue murder when the psycho is chainsawing her fingers off, but she doesnt, she just lies there quite silent :hmm:

i was well chuffed i worked out how to use a separate subtitle-file for the first time, so i saw it in english

You must be more desensitised to violence than me.

I remember Texas Chainsaw Massacre (or was it Driller Killer) was banned. They were totally tame :D

I like my horror films but this one just sounds sensational.

I found Takashi Miike's "Audition" to be just the right side of disturbing but I'm not sure I could bring myself to watch this one.

Wouldn't ban it, mind

I didn't really find Audition scary.

Anyway, I'd have thought something like Visitor Q would warrant a banning more than Audition on the grounds of perversity :D
