BBC4 Prog Rock tonight

I really enjoyed it. I thought the comments the proggers made about punk was interesting. Either they recognised the death knell or remain confused and hurt by the whole thing to this day :D

Really what it showed was that they were trying to be classical performers and artists with modern rock instruments and arrangements.

There was. A whole bit about Dark Side and The Wall too..

I think you're talking about Saturday's programme - I meant Friday's.

I'm still astonished at finding out that the guy who sang 'I Believe in Father Christmas' was the same one who sang '21st Century Schizoid Man'.:D

I thought the one who claimed Johnny Rotten didn't admit to liking prog stuff 'til years later funny. IIRC J.R. did a radio show in summer '76 where he happily admitted to liking Van Der Graff Generator amongst others.

I bet he didn't!

Just goes to show what a load of bollocks all those punk '3 chords and the truth merchants' (to paraphrase Bill Bruford) spoke.

Just a great big sham.

Give me a 20 minute guitar solo any day. :D

Aye. :D VDGG used to do loads of free festivals back in the 70's (so did Hawkwind, who weren't prog).
