Thanks to another Urbanite
for alerting me to this.
Thursday 13th October will be the first anniversary of John Peel's death, and Radio 1 seem to be planninga tribute day to commemorate this.
this time I did a title search to make sure no-one else had already started a thread about it
A few scanty details from BBC R1 website here
No idea how this will turn out, but it sounds like the day could be a fitting tribute.
It's also two days before PROD, on Saturday 15th October

BBC said:Andy Parfitt, Controller Radio 1 said: "Peel Day is about celebrating John's legacy and his unrivalled passion for music.
"It'll be a day of gigs taking place up and down the country, something we feel will be a fitting tribute to John."
A gig in London is also being organised prior to the day, with details to be finalised at a later date.
Peel's widow said: "John would have been honoured and fairly amazed that the anniversary is being marked in such a way.
"He would appreciate that in years to come Peel Day will give new bands across the country the chance to be heard."
