2 muslim reporters moved into the estate. one of bangladeshi and one of pakistani descent (IIRC). They were ostensibly man and wife, him a part-time decorator and her a housewife with little english. they had cameras on them and showed mostly abuse towards the woman. Kids from 11-17 threw things and hurled abuse. An eleven year old boy threatened to stab her and brick her. his friend tried to grab her bag. Some people were also helpful with directions and one man chased the two kids away. Some guys in their early twenties were also abusive. Generally it showed how intimidating it was for the woman especially. It was mostly kids though.

They also spoke to a couple of people who had been physically attacked on the estate.

It was shocking to watch but it didn't really give any kind of in depth look at the background of the estate or the kids involved or the mentality behind it all. Lots of pure ignorance manifesting in violence.

I spent a good chunk of my youth in southmead with my black mates. In other close areas of bristol there's been a tightening of existing white and black groups against somalians and kurds within a catch all anti-muslim (i.e paki) thing. Southmead is pretty white but these things have been happening there too.
