Battles - GRRRR

Weren't Don Caballero that sort of Prog/Jazz/Rock band?

They were shit, iirc. Really bad.

Whereas DLJ are "Math Rock" (*lil genre shudder*) and they're super-amazing great.

I'm not sure whether I want to hear Battles or not, but if Dub says they're too prog for him, it's probably a not...

:p :D

well i have to say they were fucking incredible last night. don't know how much of the new album they played or anything but what they played was great.

I don't know if it was prog to be honest. Maybe it was... lots of looped sounds constantly evolving and lots of well orchestrated noise. and it was very loud! Whats not to like?!

Glad someone else had a good Battles experience! But what's not to like? ... The record.

I was planning on seeing them last night - bought a ticket and everything. I left halfway through Clark's set though cos my leg was giving me gip and there wasn't a single seat in the fucking venue. Ho hum.

Still haven't listened to the album ... though did see them at ATP. Entertaining enough but the songs were lacking somewhat/never really went anywhere ... oh well :)

I'm listening now, my curiosity was arroused by the plan B interview - Prog is unfair cos it, well isnt that bad - the vocals are irking me on some tracks, some of it is quite er... catchy and some of it is a bit forgettable. I dunno it sounds like slint if they were over excited, ill disciplined and on helium to me. The second track was excellent.

Hang on, the track playing now is uber prog :D
