compared to Noel Gallagher????

I'm gonna download this DJ Rupture shit who is he??

In my mind it will always be Oasis. The music was more gutsy, and the lyrics of Oasis, whetger you think they're shit or not, always spoke to me more than a bunch of middle class students commenting on the working classes.

oasis are a very competent Beatles tribute band. Blur are an interesting and slightly innovative pop group.

The real question is, 'when will the world acclaim the Stranglers as their leaders?'

Let me see.... one band are dull bad moments of the Beatles copyists who seemed initially exciting but ran out of steam after an album and a half... the others, well, I don't like everything they've done, but they're varied, experimental and sometimes original. And yes, that's Blur, and yes, they win by quite some way.

All Oasis' lyrics are shit. Fact.

Here's a couple at random from the top of my head:

"Slowly walking down the hall faster than a cannonball."

"Cos you’re my sunshine you’re my rain."
Shite!

At least Blur can inject a bit of humour into their lyrics, here's another couple at random, again from the top of my head:

"Being English isn't about hate it's about disgust"

"Rock Stars are NOT cool they're full of this guy they call satan!"

"I'd like to be somebody else and not know where I've been
I'd like to build myself a house out of plasticine
Shake along with me
I've been driving in my car with my friend Mr. Soft
Mr. Clean and Mr.Ben are living in my loft
Shake along with me!"

"She's got a brother
We don't get on with one another
But I quite fancy her mother
And I think that she likes me
She's got a cousin
In fact she's got 'bout a dozen
She's got one in the oven
But it's nothing to do with me"

:(

Anyone seen that film 'Live Forever'? It features interviews from the Gallaghers and Albarn.

The brothers G. come across as likeable, sorted geezers, while Albarn comes across as a whinging, self-pitying, middleclass twat.

so what? i don't buy records based on how affable the artists are. Otherwise i'd have lots of records by Darius and none by Black Sabbath.

perhaps "when really questionable lyrics about sexual violence towards women recorded by ageing pub rockers who jumped the punk bandwagon become acceptable"?

It's too awful to contemplate.

John Major, Mr Darcy, Hooch and Katie Puckrick. Do we really have to go there again?

I hope not, but if we must I'll need a blindfold, a big spliff and someone to tell me everything will be ok.

:D
