Battle of the bands Oasis Vs Blur

Who did you think was better, Oasis or Blur?

gwan, live a little, guess. :) it's a 50/50 so i reckon you might get it right.

will it be a band who have reinvented themselves from album to album, drawing on a vast range of influences for a vast range of song styles.

or a bunch of tedious Beatles-fixated cunts who only stop using TRex riffs when they remembe they can use Slade ones too. Oh, and Status Quo.

You seem to be saying Oasis are shit in the lyrics department. I didn't think you'd judge a song simply by that though..

no, i'd try and assess them on their musical merits too, i just can't find any.

Meh, they use a wideish chord range, different instruments, produce a catchy tune, have 1 decentish singer. Even though I like Blur, never been that keen on Damon's voice..and I've found a fair few of their tracks to be a bit cheesey.

Out of curiousity, what songs have those riffs you mentioned?

oh jesus, are you for real? :D

are we talking about the same band? the band that for ages were nicknamed Quoasis?

Quoth the Noel Gallagher

"T-Rex were ripping off Oasis years before we picked up our instruments, our lawyers have yet to pull them up on this"

Now that's one count of pretentious wankery and one of plagarism

E

ach to their own. And besides, if you want to complain about stealing riffs. Surely Alburns attempts at making a song with samples from Night of the Living Dead must rattle your chain?

He's right you know - they do have different instruments.

look, i know you're only 16 but i know for a fact i wasn't that dumb when i was your age. are you seriously comparing Albarn sampling a movie soundtrack with a band using the same 3 or 4 riffs for a 15 year career?

go to bed.

3 or 4 is a rough generalisation, inaccurate as well. You're just going by a few of the singles.

is this the bit where you start telling me that i just obviously haven't heard enough Oasis to make a judgement?

Blur every time..

However. - I been listening to Definetly Maybe recently, and that is a right cracker of an album.. oh yes.

Not sure Dubversion, but I reckon they have reinvented themselves several times. Definitly Maybe having a harsh rock theme to it, Morning Glory and Be Here Now being alot more commercial and The Masterplan having a slow, part-60s feel to it (last 2 albums are bollocks though).

And for such a pile of shit, they're still probably the biggest band to come out of England in the last 10 years.

Blur

and i dont care what anyone says coz i really fancy Damon Alban(sp??) :D

(starting to think that i may fancy most people  )

well you did set your self up by saying they had meaning and since the lyrics convey the meaning of the song it sems only right to point out that the lyrics were shite and therfore your reason for them being good ( as stated in your first post ) is a tad off the mark !

find it easier to 'look' bolshy' by hiding behind typed words rather than say it face to face with real people.

actually he's like that in real life too so thats your attempt at bollocks internet psychology fucked up isn't it ! Maybe next time stick with what you know instead of trying to make yourself sound clever :p

last 10 years? you sure? you might want to check that. And anyway, you're not going to be silly enough to try and relate commercial success to worth are you? and claim it's a meritocracy? or are you? :D

And you'd resort to childish name calling off the internet as well then . Well aren't you the fucking dogs bollocks :p

Anyone seen that film 'Live Forever'? It features interviews from the Gallaghers and Albarn.

The brothers G. come across as likeable, sorted geezers, while Albarn comes across as a whinging, self-pitying, middleclass twat.

2 very different bands.

Some of Oasis' stuff is fuckin wicked Noel is a canny songwriter but perhaps rips off a bit and should be a bit more experimental.

Blur on the other hand - well Graham Coxon is a musical genius
They're not afraid too push the boundaries and have shwon this.

They've come along way from 'there's no other way' to be fair. :)

and Damon supports Chelsea so :p
