Bat for Lashes

I like.
Is this another artist where the whole forum disagrees with me and slates?

Daniel is a tune. And you know it

Not I. I loved "Fur And Gold" - haven't heard the new stuff yet.

Yes, her music owes a great deal to Kate Bush, Tori Amos etc etc but show me an musician working today who doesn't have obvious influences.

I have loved her live shows .... she has a slightly irritating self-consciousness about her but the stage designs, props and costumes are magical.

I thought Fur and Gold was a good album, not groundbreaking, but a good solid album with some well written songs, interestingly presented.

I went to see them at koko a while back though and wasn't hugely impressed. It felt strangely like a school production, very staged. Although they did a great version of Sarah, much darker than the album version.

Wednesday is when I'm going to see her (again) and I can't bloody wait. Going to try and get there early to catch School of Seven Bells (pretty good). :)

just heard her new one. ewwww, it's got Police-style 80s chug guitars. Yeuch. It sounds like 80s Fleetwood Mac. She's taking her cues from Ladyhawke.

Just back from seeing her tonight in Glasgow and she was absolutely fucking amazing. She's really upped her game without turning into a boring corporate act. If you've got tix to see her on her current tour, you're in for a treat.

I just checked her out on Youtube (didn't we decide that that's Killing Music?) and quite like it, although I realised I'd seen the What's a Girl to Do? video before. I quite liked Daniel - although the driving scene made me think of the Mighty Boosh too much to keep a straight face. :D

Let's turn it the other way around - if I liked Bat For Lashes, which Kate Bush album would I probably like the most? It's about time I got into her music a bit more.

In order - Never for Ever, Hounds of Love, The Kick Inside, The Red Shoes, Aerial, The Dreaming, The Sensual World, Lionheart (last 'cos it's leftovers from The Kick Inside - second album syndrome).

Everything is on Spotify for Kate Bush (so's BFL's new album for those who haven't heard it).

Imogen Heap has a better style, it must be said.

Still, it's better than Leona Lewis or the other shite you hear on the playlists...

I prefer the new album. Fur and Gold was decent, but not one that found it's way onto regular rotation. The new one has more beats and hooks, makes it better upon repeat listens. She's a good artist, although I do get a vague sense of diappointment by how half baked the experimentalist side of the music is. Also, I am completely in love with Natasha, she is wonderful.

I can't say I don't like and I can't say I like it. It sounds too well produced and polished. Does that make sense? Students will love her.

I would like to hear her demos.

Saw her in Edinburgh on Monday thought the new stuff was pretty good. The venue was surprising empty though, not disastrously so but about 2/3full

Where was she playing? The missus us trying to convince me to go see when playing here in Manchester.

Picture House, was doing gigs in Glasgow and Aberdeen this week as well, which may explain the low turnout

Opps was Friday not Monday, shit weekend and lots on at mo, but my mind is clearly going
