Bass Amps and Cabs

Then they're bonkers quite frankly :D

The wiring would be the same as the diagram above, just lose the XLR feed.

i might be wrong, it is a very nice bass amp and cab though so i think they just want the sound from that, it is probably loud enough to barely need miking up anyway. it would be a shame to not use the expensive gear when i have the chance. i can always use th sansamp the other 95% of the time whn i have shit gear

Just have a chat with the enginner then, see what they think is best. If they have enough channels on the desk they may use both a mic and the DI feed to give you an uber fat bass sound :)

If using it as just a stompbox (ie no source of phantom power) don't forget a 9V battery...

It kinda defeats the point of having it though - one of the major plus points of a sansamp pedal is that it gives you an "amplified" sound, but on a balanced output, thus eliminating the need for a mic.
oh yeh i understand that, it will be great for it's full use loads of times, just probably not this one time

that would definitely be the best. the other downside of diing is that any speaker feedback doesn't come out front of house, i sometimes like to do a bit of feedback.

i wouldn't really want to be getting feedback from the PA. hey i just thought, is it possible to have one output from the sansamp coloured for the DI, and one "clean" output untouched by the box to go to the amp?

Yep, the sansamp has 3 outputs - one effected DI, one effected instrument level, and one clean loopthough.

i am taking delivery of a Sansamp bassdriver DI tomorrow... it is unique in that everyone everywhere seems to totally love, like it has some magic power. it's a lot cheaper than an ampeg stack too. i will gig test it on the weekend.

If that's from the same range as the Sansung RBI, they've got decent reviews. If I were in a band and knew I'd have access to a PA, I'd go for the rackmount RBI thing. Sounds pretty flexible.

If someone points at an XLR socket and says "that's me", I'm happy :)

What say, if I turned up to your studio with my guitar preamp. Quarter inch jacks +4 DBu or -10DBu (It has 2 output settings anyway.) Do peple do that?

Guess most guitarists prefer using a full amp. Actually I would prefer a valve halfstack with my preamp with all the presets I've set.

Er, not that I'm going into a pro studio any time soon. Mores the pitty.

For a recording session I've got coming up with a rock/metal band I'm going to be taking three feeds from each guitar - one from a mic in front of the amp, one clean DI, and one sansamp effected. Oh, and a couple of room mics as well...
